Alexander Fae's screams rang through the cells once more. She had another vision at some point and she refused to even speak of it. As I leaned against the wall watching her body convulse in pain, I felt nothing. The numbness had crept back into me as the days went on. Fae had been right then and she was right now. Her screams hadn't swayed my heart. I clicked my teeth in annoyance as I pushed off the wall. I didn't bother to tell them to stop hurting her as I left. They wouldn't kill her as long as I didn't order it. She would be treated for her wounds just long enough so we could reopen them again. No one dared cross my path as I made my way out and then a hand grabbed at my arm. I reached down and grabbed the weak fingers and broke them. My mother's scream gave me a soft flare of joy.
