Cassandra
I should have expected the kiss but I couldn't help but get caught up in it. It was a welcome distraction. I hadn't even noticed his mother enter though. I was too stunned to react but I stood from the couch. The king rushed her out of the room before I could apologize though, and he turned to me with a frown.
"Cassandra. Lay back down." He said as he walked back over. I shook my head quickly and raised my hands between us. He stopped in his tracks.
"Please, your majesty. Not now." I pleaded with him gently. He knew just as well as me that he could order me if he wanted. His eyes were conflicted and he ran a hand down his face.
"I need you." The words were so soft I almost didn't believe I heard them. He needed me? For what?
"What do you need from me, your highness?" I watch
