CHAPTER 4

CLAIRES POV

“Claire he’s coming!.. Damion is coming this way.” Hayley says with a blank expression on her face.

*knock knock knock*

“What do I do? Should I open it?”

“Yes! Go!”

We whisper so he doesn’t hear.

Hayley gets up off the bed and goes to open the door.

“Hi Hayley “ he says very awkwardly.

Funny I don’t remember him being awkward ever.

“Hi Damion”

I can hear the shakiness in her voice.They stand there just staring at each other, boy is it awkward. Say something to him this is uncomfortable and he looks more nervous than you.

I don’t know what to say! Help me!

“Mind if we go talk?” He says snapping us out of our mind link

“Uh yeah sure let’s go”

“Great, but before we go can I ask, is Claire with you”

“Yeeah she is”

Dammit Hayley why’d you have to tell him. I really hope he isn’t asking for Austin. I can’t even get out of here, I don’t remember the town much and I don’t want to explore without Hails.

“Could you call her over please, I need to talk to you both..it’ll just be for a minute. Then you and I can go talk.”

“Um.. .. yeah let me get her”

She turns around and closes the door a little. Sorry I was going to say you weren’t with me but I panicked

I hear in my head before she says “Claire could you come her for a sec “ out loud so that Damion hears.

I get up and head to the door, Hayley opens it again and we both step out into the hall.

“Hi Damion nice to see you” I try to sound as normal as possible

Geez this kid got tall, I mean he was always taller than us but only by an inch or two, he’s gotta at least a foot taller than me now.

“ Hi Claire, nice to see you too. I won’t take up too much of your time, I just wanted to apologize to both you and Hayley.

The way we treated you two wasn’t right, it might be hard to believe but that is not the type of man I am. I don’t know the reason the others have for behaving that way but what I do know is I didn’t want to treat either of you that way. I’d see Austin doing it and I wanted to fit in so bad I played along but that’s no excuse.

I am very sorry. I hope I get the chance to show you both, especially you Hayley,that I am better than that.”

Huh, would you look at that, I never thought I’d hear those words from any of them, but here he is saying them very sincerely it seems. I’m glad to see it, I want what’s best for Hayley and that will probably mean being friends with Damion.

“Thank you Damion. I appreciate and accept your apology” I say with a smile

He seems a bit more relaxed after that.

“Hope you don’t mind if I steal your friend for a little while”

“Not at all, you guys go ahead.I’ll see you later Hails”

“See you later Clay” she says with a big smile.

LOGANS POV

Damn I can’t believe Hayley is Damions mate, I kind of always thought it would be her and Dennis. I’m not sure if the others noticed or not but i know they liked each other.

I wonder if she’ll accept to be his mate..

WHY ARE YOU WASTING TIME WONDERING ABOUT THIS NONSENSE!? GO FIND OUR MATE BEFORE THEY GET TO HER FIRST!

Fenrir just as impatient as always. He’s right though, I have to get to her before Austin, he’ll do just about anything to get her to choose him.

I can’t ask Austin where she is, I can’t ask D either dammit! I don’t want to go knocking on doors but I will if I have to.

Maybe if I head towards the guest quarters I’ll run in to her.

I can’t stop thinking about her, she looks amazing. I’ve always been in love with her and now there’s a possibility of her being mine.

As I’m walking around the hall of the guest room I sense her scent, it’s intoxicating. It takes over me, I have never smelled a more pleasant scent.

I can’t focus, can’t think of what to say to her, I just want to make her mine.

But I can’t she deserves an apology first, an explanation. She deserves to decide if she wants to accept me as her mate or ... reject me.

I’m about to turn the corner when I sense him there with her. I can feel Fenrir trying to come out and I want to let him. I know he’s one of my best friends but right now I just want to tear into him.

Get him away from mate or I WILL.
