Between Two Alphas

CHAPTER 7

CLAIRES POV

When I get into my room Hayley is already there.

“You were with Logan?!”

“What? Yeah how’d you know?”

“Because Austin came to find Damion, he told us what happened in the hallway. So we convinced him to come talk to you again and when he didn’t find you he went into town and he saw you with Logan. Damion dropped me off because he thought it was a bad idea for Austin to be alone but now he can’t find him.”

“Are you serious?! What if he goes looking for a fight?”

“Well I’m pretty sure he is”

“Come with me? I need to find them”

“Are you sure you want to do that?”

“Yes I’m sure let’s go. Ask Damion if he knows anything.”

We leave in a hurry, taking the stairs two at a time but when we reach the bottom I realize I have no idea where either of them would be. Just then Hayley gets a text from Damion.

“What does it say??” I ask desperately

“In the woods about 15 and a half miles to the east”

“Oh no, this can’t be good”

We run to the woods, when we get to the entrance of the woods we see Damion.

“Leave your clothes here in this tree” he says.

He goes behind some trees close by so Hayley and I can undress and shift. Once we’ve shifted he come out from behind the trees in his wolf form and he takes off. We follow close behind trying not to fall behind.

I think we’re close I can smell them both, maybe three or four miles in front of us. Normally running fifteen miles in wolf form would be nothing but with this tight feeling in my chest, it feels like fifty.

We reach them but not in time. There’s two big wolf, at least twice my size, staring each other down. The black wolf with white markings on the ears pounces at the wolf that’s coffee brown with black markings on the left side of the face. The brown wolf side steps and snaps it’s jaws at the side of the black wolf nicking him slightly.

These idiots! Is this how they think they’ll solve this problem?! I want to punch both of their stupid faces!

I’m not sure how else to get their attention so I growl as loud as I can. They stop right in their tracks, confusion and then dread on their faces at the realization that it’s me staring back at them.

I walk up to them and growl in both of their stupid faces.

I gesture Damion to take me back to my room. He looks just as surprised as Hayley by my actions.

We take off running and leave them there, if they want to keep fighting that’s fine, I don’t need this. I can’t believe those two, they have things going in a good direction and they decide to do something stupid, how am I supposed to decide who I want to be with if they make things so damn difficult!

AUSTINS POV

Twice in one day, good job Austin you f****ing i***t. I just had to go and fight Logan, always with the brightest ideas.

I want to chase after her but I’m not sure I have the right to. And I’m pretty sure I’m the last person she wants to see right now.

I shift back into my human form and Logan does the same.

“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that”

“It’s okay it’s not all your fault, I shouldn’t have entertained the idea, I’m sorry too”

“ I love her.. it’s not just the mate bond I’ve always loved her”

His face goes blank, I’m sure he’s surprised none of my actions could be mistaken for love. I’m not so sure he believes what I’m saying, he probably thinks I’m trying to convince him to not put up a fight.

“ I have loved her since we were kids too”

Well s**t never mind, that’s makes his face make a lot more sense. Also makes the way he would always try to defend her make sense.

Every time the other guys and I would do something to her and Hayley he wouldn’t participate or tell us to stop.

He’d always fight with me when I’d bring up a plan to mess with her. Guess I should’ve realized it sooner but he’s also just a good guy so I thought that was all it was.

“ So how are we supposed to go about this? “ I ask him

“If I knew I’d tell you but I’m not sure, we need to talk with Claire and the elders”

“ We should give her some time before we talk to her. She probably doesn’t want to see us right now. We can talk after the party, see what the elders have to say.”

“I agree”

We shift back into our wolf forms and head back. We split off about three miles before where we each left our clothes. When I reach the tree where I left my clothes I shift back into my human form and get dressed.

I know I said we’d wait to talk to Claire but I have to see her. I head to my room so that I can shower before going to see Claire. When I reach my room I check my phone before getting into the shower, nothing of importance.

Hey D you awake?

Yeah what’s up?

Can you get a bouquet of flowers and drop it off in my room ?

Sure, what kind?

S***t I don’t know what type of flower she likes

Dumbass. I’m with Hayley I’ll ask her

I cut the mind link and head into the shower.

By the time I get out of the shower it’s already 12, hopefully she isn’t asleep yet, I should’ve told D to ask about that too. I quickly get dressed, grab my phone and the flowers, pink hydrangeas, and head out.
