I was even more confused. Who's Corey? I haven't heard of him, but I didn't want to ask questions yet. I wanted Luke to finish explaining. "I met him over the summer during my family's retreat. My cousin became obsessed with him. He turned her down, but she was persistent, so he decided to do the unthinkable." I held my breath, unsure what to expect. I grabbed Luke's hands and squeezed them, reassuring him to proceed. He took a slow deep breath, "The last night there, we were having dinner and her parents said she was going on a date with him. But how is that possible when he loathed her? I felt uneasy, so I asked if they knew where she was going with him, but they said it was a surprise for her. They didn't know, nor did they suspect anything. They said she'd get dropped off at home afterward. They left after dinner. I told my parents I wanted to stay behind and get some fresh air before meeting them at home. The whole time, I had this feeling that something wasn't right. I went cruising around to see if I could find them. I had to make sure she was ok. When I spotted her, she was stranded, wearing only her bra and underwear, crying. I couldn't believe it. I got out and ran to her. She fell down weeping that he lied to her and had her stripped bare just to leave her out there. He wanted her to suffer! Imagine if I ignored the uneasy feeling I had?! Something bad could've happened to her! I was so furious with him. How could he do that to her?! When we meet, he will pay for what he did to her. I wanted him to know that what he did was unforgivable." I was utterly shocked! "Oh no, I'm sorry to hear she went through that... Thank you for sticking around and making sure she was ok Luke," I hugged him. "It's okay Mia, I just wanted to make him pay, and I will. I won't rest until he pays for what he did to her because she didn't deserve that. I demanded to know why he had to take it that far. He mocked me, saying she deserved it for being such a desperate slut. Next time, he'll do much worse. He said she got it easy. I just lost it and punched him as hard as I could. Was I wrong for losing it?" "No. You're not wrong for protecting your cousin. She's family. I understand why you did what you did, and I'm sure your cousin appreciated that as well," I stated firmly. Luke is such a good-hearted person. From the day I met him 2 years ago, he's been the most amazing friend ever. He understood me in ways others didn't, and I appreciated that. I spent the day catching up with Luke about his summer retreat. It was dark already, and night fell. I had to go home before my parents got worried.
