I stopped dead in my tracks, my feet glued to the ground, and my eyes widened in horror as Luke was getting punched and kicked. I snapped and sprinted as fast as I could to him. I couldn't see or hear anyone else. All I could think about was, that I never should've walked to school. I could've prevented this. I forced my way through the crowd and crouched down to cover Luke from any more attacks. Everything happened so fast that I only realized everyone stopped crowding when Luke asked me what I was doing. I looked at Luke with teary eyes, "a.. a.. are you okay Luke? I'm s-so sorry I didn't come earlier." I couldn't hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. I raised my hands to touch Luke's face, "Luke, let's take you to the hospital, you're bleeding." Luke was about to speak when I turned to look behind me, seeing him staring at me. He looked angry. Why did he hurt Luke? I stood up, "Please stop, he's bleeding," I pleaded. He didn't answer me but stared at me unmoving. His deep gaze and silence made me shift uncomfortably. Was he still going to hurt Luke? I turned back to help Luke stand up. Luke groaned as he wiped my tears, "Shh... it's okay, don't cry Mia. I'm okay." I kept shaking my head while crying, "You're not okay. You're hurt and bleeding. How could he do this to you?" Luke smiled the same smile that always calms me down. The school staff finally showed up, and the crowd quickly dispersed. They escorted Luke and that guy to the office. The bell rang again as I quickly wiped my tears. I began walking towards the school's main doors when that guy stopped walking with the staff. He turned around to stare at me. I didn't tear my gaze away this time. My brows knit as I tried to understand why he wouldn't say anything. He finally turned away and kept walking. The first two classes felt like an eternity. I couldn't stop thinking about how Luke was doing. He's badly injured, so my concern only grew by the minute. The bell rang, finally! I ran to the nurse's office. I had to catch my breath before I opened the door. I slowly opened the door while holding my breath until the nurse greeted me, "Hello, is there something you need?" "Where's Luke?" I whispered. "Luke's gone for the day. He has gone home already," she smiled. I felt somewhat relieved knowing he had gone home because he wouldn't have to go to the hospital, but I wanted to see him. As I turned to leave, I realized someone was sitting in the corner of the room, looking out the window. It was him! I still don't know who he is, and why he did that, but I didn't want to stay in that room any longer. I left abruptly. The final bell rang, and I was the first to get out. I ran home to get my car. I had to see Luke. I opened the house door and ran up to my room to change. I put my hair in a messy bun, grabbed the car keys, and left.
