“You can’t just go around insulting people,” Jane said to Leah as she walked out of the kitchen, balancing a bowl of popcorn in her arms like it was a baby.
We were supposed to be watching The Notebook—you know, sobbing, swooning, and pretending we didn’t all wish for a Noah—but instead, Leah and Jane were back at it, bickering like an old married couple about whether Leah had been rude to Ethan.
I zoned out. My attention drifted to the glow of my phone screen in my lap.
