Alice’s POV I never thought Brian had a soft bone in his body. But these past hours, he had been... calm. Kind, even. I kept waiting for him to leave — to bolt out of the room, to chase some deal, demolish someone’s estate, or threaten a business tycoon in true Brian King fashion. But he stayed. He cared for me. Now I’m slouched on the sofa, my head resting against the armrest, watching him from across the room.
