It was so weird being in my Kitsune form. I could see and hear everything, but it was different; my senses were so much more heightened. She caught a scent, and it was making her act strangely.
She zeroed in on Vida’s Phoenix mate. I have no idea what it was she could smell, but it appeared to be a secondary scent coming off the Phoenix Queen. It wasn’t her scent.
Shifting back was less painful than the initial shifting had been. I was thankful for the high pain tolerance I had developed as Spectre, so I didn’t scream out loud.
