DRAGON KING HAKURYU’S POV
I cannot believe I have been summoned to the Elders Council over that ridiculous scuffle with that horrid woman. A king should not be called to the Council office like a naughty child being sent to see the principal.
Thankfully, I did not have to degrade myself by walking the whole way; I just shifted and made my way there in my white dragon form, much quicker and easier.
Upon arrival in the Capital, I felt my beast becoming unsettled. This was a very strange sensation as the grumpy old bastard barely ever made a noise or movement in my mind.
Perhaps he was unhappy about being called to the Council; I guess I have no choice but to ignore him for now.
I made my way through all the magical security checks and headed straight to the Dragon Elder’s office, as it was he who had summoned me.
As I was walking up the hallway, I saw that horrid woman again. She was standing outside the door of Elder Dragon Kinryu’s door.
“What the hell are you doing here, woman? Shouldn’t you be speaking with the Phoenix Elder?” I growled.
“Well, you stupid overgrown Lizard, I would prefer to see my own Elder; however, I was summoned by your elder, so here I am.” This woman very much rubbed me the wrong way, hence the reason we fought in the first place.
The door opened, and a dragon secretary exited. “His Eldership will see you both now,” he said with a bow, then hurried off up the hallway.
Several things struck me at once as we entered the Elder’s office. Firstly, the Phoenix Elder was already present with the Elder Dragon.
Secondly, there was the most divine scent lingering in the office, sending my Dragon absolutely crazy; he was becoming hard to restrain.
Lastly, and this one really got me riled up, the bîtĉh standing beside me also appeared to be reacting to something; I could only assume it was the scent.
“King Hakuryu and Queen Enya, please come and take a seat.” The Dragon Elder stated flatly. “We have something rather important to discuss with you both,” he continued.
I was struggling to comprehend what he was saying with my Dragon going berserk. “My apologies for changing the subject, your Eldership, but my Dragon is reacting to a scent lingering in your office. Is there a new dragon around?”
“Outrageous! How can you possibly be reacting to the scent? My Pheonix has already confirmed that the scent belongs to our soul partner,” The Pheonix Queen spat at me.
My Dragon was pushing hard inside me. He wanted to rip this woman’s head off for her ridiculous outburst; how could we both sense our mate with the same scent?
“Please, you both need to take a seat, and I can explain what is going on.” The Elder Dragon boomed, and I felt his authority wash over me, silencing my Dragon and forcing me to comply.
The woman got quiet too. We both took our seats and waited to hear what the Elder Dragon had to say.
“I had the most unusual trio of visitors call into my office earlier today. The fairy Princess, Elida, the Beta Werewolf, Kenneally and a stranger that the Fairy Princess had found wandering in the forest.” He started. That was a strange trio, indeed.
“The stranger was a human female who apparently fell through the tear you two created when you were fighting yesterday. She was most intriguing indeed.” He said and had a knowing smirk on his face.
“What did you find out?” I asked my Elder. My interest was indeed piqued, though I was not keen on the fact she was human.
“She had a dream on her first night here in Mythica. In that dream, five people of different species appeared to her and told her she needed to choose and she could have as many as she liked if they were willing to share her.”
“There is no way in hell I am sharing my fated with this woman,” I spat, pointing at the Pheonix Queen seated nearby.
“Well, the Beta Werewolf is also one of her potential mates, and yet she came before me to find out if there was a way for her to return to her own realm. It would appear she knows nothing about fated soulmates of any kind and is fighting the pull.” The Elder smirked again. He was enjoying this, that sadistic bastard.
“So where is she now?” I asked. I needed to see her for myself and see if she really was my Fated mate.
“She will be staying somewhere within the Capital and is off to look for work until I am able to meet with all the Elders to find out if there is a way to send her home.
“You cannot send her home if she belongs to us,” The Queen spat. As much as I hated her, I was inclined to agree with her about that, at the very least.
“You cannot keep someone here against their will. I have done all I can in order to allow you the time to find her and convince her to stay. She still has two other potential soulmates, and you are not going to like who they are as much as you don’t like each other.” The Elder said and stopped, waiting to see our reactions.
“Spit it out, old man!” I shouted. I knew I was being highly disrespectful, but he was toying with my emotions regarding my fated mate, and that’s just completely uncalled for.
“Perhaps I should just keep that to myself if you cannot show the Elder of your own kind the respect he is entitled to,” Elder Kinryu stated. I was becoming more and more agitated.
“Elder Kinryu, though I agree that the Dragon King was being disrespectful, you have tormented him enough. Please tell us all who the other two potential mates are of this human woman.” The Phoenix Elder, named Pyro, said.
The Dragon Elder huffed. “Very well, I shall tell you. The two remaining potential mates are the Elf princess Aubrey and the Head warrior of the Vampire clan whose name, I believe, is Caith.”
“Oh, hell no!” I shouted. We Dragons do not like the Elves or Pheonixes, but we absolutely detest the vampires. The Phoenix people were the opposite, having no issues with the Vampires but absolutely detesting the Elves.
This human woman, should she actually be the fated mate of all five people, will cause an all-out war, the way things are progressing. I needed to find this woman as soon as possible and hide her in my horde so that none of the others could find her.
I stood and began to pace around the room. “Do you have any idea where the woman is now? The Capital is a rather big place.” I asked Elder Kinryu.
“Since you have given me nothing but attitude, I will not give you any further information. You are going to have to find her yourself.” The Elder said and crossed his arms over his chest.
I may be the King of the Dragon people and the strongest fighter among them, but even I doubted I would be able to beat the Elder in a hand-to-hand fight. He was huge.
The term Elder was quite misleading for most of the species. They may be the eldest of each of our kind, but they were by no means frail or weak. They were practically all unbelievably intelligent, strong, and were not shy about their powers.
It looked like I was going to have to find this woman the old-fashioned way, by scent. Not only that, but I had to find her before any of the others found her and get her away from the Werewolf Beta; now him, I knew I could beat him in a fight.
“Don’t even think about causing any further trouble, and I will keep my word and look into finding a way for the woman to get home, should she still wish to return to her realm, so you would do well to play nice.” The Elder said with a smirk.
“Fine, may I be excused now? I have a fated to find,” I replied as I walked towards the door.
“Very well, you may both be excused, but a little advice for you, Hakuryu. Doing what you are thinking about doing will not gain you any favour with her. She is human, after all. Humans are weak both physically and mentally. Just keep that in mind.” He said, and the Phoenix Queen scoffed.
“I can only imagine this blockhead's plan. Let me guess, find her and hide her in your horde until she agrees to accept you? I hate to tell you this, sweetheart, but all that will do will lead us to your horde. You are not the only one who can follow her scent.” She spat at me.
I grabbed her by the front of her shirt. I don’t care that she is a woman. She sure as hell doesn’t fight like one. “Listen here, birdie, don’t think I won’t beat you to a pulp because you are a woman, even with the Elders here,” I growled in her face.
I shuddered and let go of her shirt as I once again felt the Elder’s powers flow over me, except this time, it was the power of both Elders.
“I suggest you two put your grievances aside if you wish to win this young woman over. Do you honestly think she will choose people who do nothing but fight and threaten each other?” Elder Pyro said.
He made a good point, but I was too angry to concede. “Fine, I will not cause any more trouble, but your Queen had better stay out of my way,” I said before leaving the room and walking down the hallway.
Once I got outside, I took a huge breath in and shifted into my Dragon. “OK, old boy, let’s find our fated,” I said, and with a huff, we were off on the hunt for a human.
