I walk through the corridor and watch as Peter, our beta, comes out of my father's office with a worried face. I stop him and say, “What's going on? Your face tells me that there are serious problems.”
He sighs, then replies, “Go in and talk to your father. It's about Isabella.”
As soon as I hear Isabella's name mentioned, I feel my heart race and a feeling of deep concern wash over me. I rush into my father's office, where I find him sitting, lost in his thoughts. Whatever he's thinking definitely has him anxious, as I watch a crinkle form between his eyes.
I clear my throat as I say, “Father, what is happening?”
