Star POV

As I sat watching the kids play with Zane, it warms my heart to impossible measure. Princess seems to have adopted the wolf as her personal pet. Asher never took his eye off Xander and always assessing. 

“We're closer to the Blood Moon Pack now. If we get on the road now, we can make it there in the next 24 hours, providing we don’t make many pit stops. We need to ditch the truck, though; that's our only problem, and by my calculation and we have enough. If we sell the one outside for scrap, we can get something more suitable and durable for our current situation and just in case your douchebag of an alpha father decides he still doesn’t want anything to do with us. Especially me.” Nina strolled through the too-small hotel room saying. This child has no hold bar on her mouth and for anyone's business. 

“Well, let's hope he still has that love I've heard everyone talk about for my mom and don’t throw us out. In the meantime, let's get the kids ready and leave as you say. We don’t have a lot of time.” I seriously hope he doesn't kick us out because he is the only plan I have. After I got the kids, my search was haltered. I sent word to him but figured he wanted nothing to do with me since he hasn’t reached out, and he is after all an alpha. If he really wanted to, he could have found me any time. Am I doing the right thing by going to him? What if he doesn't want me? Don’t want the kids, Nina? There's no way I’m leaving Nina behind. I know it's the werewolf law or some s**t that no human should know of us, but she is here now, and she is mine to protect, and that's exactly what I’m going to do. Protect her, protect them, all of them. The ringing from my phone brings me out of my stupor.

“Hello”, no answer. Come on, kids, it's time for everyone to use the bathroom. A knock came to the door, and we all stilled except for Xander, who walks over and scratches at the door. When no one moved, he turned to the Princess, and she nodded her head. 

“Xander says it's fine to open the door”, she says, and I look down at her, still perplexed by all of this. I moved to open the door, and a man's oak tree was standing there. Xander poked his head out the side of me, and the bolder of a man looks down at both of us because f**k, he was a giant. So tall, so, so tall, wow. What the hell does he eat? Now that I think of it, Zane is also very tall and built like a brick house. Just stunning, and he smells so delicious, he smelt like fresh rain on a hot day, or when spring in the air and the rain is falling and sends a wonderful breeze to greet you, sending shivers up and down your spine, and you can’t help but giggle just a little. Not this tall, dark and handsome, he smelt like pine trees and lemon.

“Hello”, the beautiful giant steps back, bowing his head. You could tell this guy was someone of importance. His aura just screamed high-level something. Damn, he's fine. Serenity was scuffing at my assessment of the wolf shifter in front of me. 

“Alpha?” The tall, dark and handsome spoke and took a backpack from his back and handed it to Xander, who took it in his mouth and headed to the bathroom. 

Fifteen minutes later, Zane walked out of the bathroom, and my eyes bulged out of my head. It was like seeing him for the first time all over again. He was wearing simple blue jeans and a V neck shirt, barely holding all those muscles in. seriously, what do these guys eat. The natural light made him even more beautiful. He had dark black hair, almost to the midnight blue same as his wolf. His muscular arms were covered in tattoos, the perfectly squared cheekbones eyes were a deep chocolate colour, with the tiny cross earring hanging from the left ear and the sexiest lips a man could ever have. They were just so plump and ready for me to devour.  The man was nothing short of godly. 

MATE! Serenity screamed. Howling in excitement. 

“I know. I swear my undies were drowning just at the sight of him. Clearing my throat and my head of the come f**k me thoughts. Trying to regain some of my sense. As the scent of fresh rain invaded all of my scenes as he came to stand next to me. Taking hold of my hand, he spoke. 

“Star met Nicolas, he is the Beta of our pack, and he's here to escort us safely. 

“Kids, it's time to go” he ushered everyone out of the room, and I followed like a zombie because his proximity made my throat dry, it was like all the water left my body and travelled down south, and the cadence of his voice was so soothing. As the kids left the room one by one, he stopped me in my coma induce horn-fest.

“Little mate, please control yourself; otherwise, I won't be able to control myself. We will have enough time for that once we are alone.” he kissed the back of my hand and led me through the door. I gasped at the tingling sensation that it sent through me. In the parking lot were two blacked-out SUVs and more burly looking men standing around. Like they were guarding the president. 

“What the hell is going on?” I am stunned at the sight before me. 

“Well, these are my men, they're part of my pack, and they're here to escort us to your father pack peacefully.” I feel like I was dropped into the twilight zone or something because what the actual. Interrupting my inner turmoil and shock. 

“Darren, Zack, you will drive with the children. They are now your charge.”

“Yes, Alpha”

“Wait, wait, what? Where are you taking them, kids get back here” Nina was already helping the twins in the SUV in the back. 

“What's wrong?” He asked like this is something I was ungrateful about. 

“Why are you helping me?” he nodded at the men, and they all disappeared into their respective vehicles.

“Because the Goddess deem you worthy to be my mate, and you are mine to protect.” I c****d my head to the side to get a good look at him, not that I needed to because Michelangelo himself sculpted him. Perfection.  Allowing him to pull me along, I noticed he led me to a different SUV than the kids. 

“No, I drive with the kids,” I tell him.

“The kids will be fine. They have their own bodyguard and” 

“I’m their bodyguard, and I'm their mother. Besides, I know how you feel about other Alpha bloodling?” that seem to have sent his brows to his hairline. I gave him a minute to compose himself. 

“I can assure you that no harm will come to Asher. I give you my word.”

“I’m sorry, but that means nothing to me. I drive with them, or we don’t go” he smiles, kisses me on the forehead, and looks into my mismatched eyes. 

“ Star, my little mate, will you at least give me the chance to win your heart and earn your trust?” he asked with the utmost sincerity. Looking into his eyes, I could see desire and a pleading man hurt and broken. For an unknown reason, I wanted to take away all his pain, all the hurt he ever felt, and murder anyone who ever hurt him. I want to protect him. Was this the mate bond that Serenity kept spewing on and on about? 

“I can try,” I tell him, and it tasted like a lie as the words left my lips because I already know that I could trust him, but how, I don’t know. He smiles, and it melted in my heart instantly. The tingling feeling was back, my heart started to race and my core was set to lava settings. He just kissed my forehead again and led me to the SUV the kids have entered, opening the front door for me and buckling me in and closed the door. I watch him speak with the men from the other vehicles and then got in the driver's seat next to me. 

“You'll see no one or nothing will ever hurt you or the kids again, and you don’t have to worry about Asher and Nina with me. I protect them because they are a part of your pack and now mine. It's time for you to meet your father finally. First, we just got one stop to make.'' he tells me and pull out into traffic, and I could see the other vehicle follow behind.  Taking a deep breath, I exhale and relax as I look in the back at my kids. Asher was sprawled across his two sisters. And they smiled back. As long as they're safe and happy, I'm happy.
