Backstage at the Coliseum, Larry found it easy to fall right back into where he and Geo had left off years earlier. Geo’s apology loosened the knot of tension between them; suddenly Larry felt a crushing weight lift off his chest and he could breathe easy, knowing it hadn’t been all his fault as he’d feared all along. He relaxed, his words began to flow where before they felt stilted, he couldn’t seem to keep the smile off his face.
Soon they were chatting like old friends, as if they’d only last seen each other a few days ago. Larry gave Geo a brief synopsis of what he’d been up to in the intervening time—the highlight reel, he called it, not wanting to dwell on Jennifer or Doug, or anything that wasn’t the two of them together again at last, even if they were only frien
