I was about to settle down for the night when I get a text from Roy.
Roy: Bella just told me that Aria that some creepy man with a little boy followed her home from work tonight. I figured I would tell you and see if you wanted me to head that way to check it out?
Me: Yes, but I will be there to. It could just be some creepy stalker but it could be something else and I wouldn’t want you to deal with that on your own.
Roy: Gotta ya. Let me send you Aria’s address and I’ll meet you there soon.
I put the address into my phone’s gps and grab my keys and head out the door. My wolf doesn’t like that some creepy stalker was stalking their mate and neither did I. I send a quick text to Earendil about what's going on and that I will update him when I get to her house. I get in the car and head to Aria’s house. As I pull onto her street, I see Roy lending up on his car on the side of the road.
As I get out of my car after parking I say to Roy, “have you seen anything out of the normal?”
“No, but I’ve been feeling like someone is watching me ever since I got here, but I haven't been able to sense anyone other than those in their houses.” Roy said.
“Oh, ok give me a minute and let me see if I can sense anything.” I responded
I close my eyes and draw on my wolf’s senses and inhale deeply. The smells are normal except a small amount of rotting fruit that the Creatures give off. Since it wasn’t very strong, I’d say whoever it was had left a little while ago, but rotting fruit isn’t all I smell, I also get the hint of a reborn Earthtarian in the mix. Maybe the little boy he has with him is one of us.
“There was a creature here recently and a reborn Earthtarian. Maybe the little boy Aria said she seen.” I finally speak.
“What is a reborn Earthtarian doing with a creature?” Roy asks.
“Since it’s a little kid I would say that the creature probably kidn*pped him and maybe is going to use him against us to get what he wants.” I responded.
Roy growls lowly at that. “What a low trick to do.”
“Well, that’s how they are and that’s how they have always been. It's one of the reasons we went to war with them.” I said.
“I wonder why I don’t remember any of our past lives.” Roy said sadly.
“We haven’t got a clue why you wouldn’t remember anything, but we will figure it out. For now, let’s see if there are any clues or messages from the said creature.” I said.
Roy agreed and we took to searching around Aria’s house and found that the trail was heading out of town. I told Roy to get in my car and we will follow it. As we were driving out of town, Roy’s face pales a bit.
“What’s wrong Roy?” I asked.
“I know where we are heading.” Roy response
“Where?” I couldn’t help but think he should just spit it out already.
“The woods where we had the bonfire that night four years ago. It could possibly be the same one that attacked Aria.” he said.
“Crap, I thought maybe since it had been so long that maybe we had taken care of him without knowing who he was.” I spoke. “Show me the way to these woods and we will see if that’s where this trial leads.”
Roy pointed out the way and I stepped on the gas. I wanted to get this over with so that Aria could be safe and we could save the little boy from the monster that is the creatures nature. I turn my lights off as we get closer to the clearing, I wanted to try and take the creature by surprised. But as we pulled in, I spot a bonfire going in the middle of the field with this middle-aged man about mid 30s with black hair and black eyes staring at us as we pulled in. Roy and I get out of the car and walk around to the front. I look around for the boy to see him lying on the ground near the edge of the clearing, hands and feet tied in front of him. His eyes were closed so maybe he was asleep.
We move closer, a deep dark low voice starts speaking.
“I see you bought another reborn Earthtarian with you. You think just the two of you could beat me?” he spoke.
“I could do it with my eyes closed.” Roy taunted back.
I whispered to Roy, “Don’t play his mind games. He is a higher up Creature so that means he has more powers than just the average creature. Let me handle him, you get the boy when you have a chance.”
Roy nodded quickly and focused his attention on the boy. I look back at the man, trying to size him up to see if I could take him myself.
“You can’t beat me, you're just a low level reborn who couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn.” He chined.
I smile, “That’s where you are wrong. I’m about to show you how wrong you are about us.”
“Bring it on, worthless reborn.” he said as he started to rush at me.
Seeing him coming, I dodge out of his way before he could even lay a finger on me. I turn around quickly to land a blow on his back. He falls to the ground, but recovers quickly. He rushes at me again, but I was too fast for him and dodge him again while tripping him at the same time. The sucky apart of these creatures is that we couldn’t kill the host body as they were human and didn’t deserve that, but we can capture the black smoke in these devices that we can then kill the soul of that creature. The problem with tonight’s creature attack is that I don’t have any such device on me. So, the best I could do is have him leave his host body and float away to later try again.
“Why not give up now, creature?” I said no even close to tired from this fight but I wanted it to be over.
“Not on your life, that girl I attacked four years ago is the Princess that put us here and we plan to take her out in order to end this curse that she put on us.” he said.
“How do you know that will end the curse?” I was curious as to why they would think that.
“The king has found the spell she used; it wasn’t easy but he did. I’m to bring her back to him and if I fail, he will just keep sending more and more of us to collect her until someone does.” he chided.
I couldn’t believe that he was just spilling out all their plans, but something was nagging me.
“Why did you bring the boy with you? What does he have to do with anything?” I asked.
“Why he is her son from her past. I bet you all didn’t know she was pregnant when we took her with twins. Well, we knew and have been searching for them for years to use them against her, but we couldn’t find them until now.” he responded.
I couldn’t believe what he was saying. No one told us that she was pregnant when she died. I shook my head, not really believing him. I lugged at him, tho he was expecting it and he hit me right in the gut before he stepped to the side.
“Oh, did I hit a hard note there? Let me guess you are one of her mates huh?” He says as he sniffs the air. “I’m guessing the one I killed before she died.”
I growled and shifted into my wolf. I jumped at him, and landed on his chest. I used my paws to scratch claw marks all over his chest. The only way to get rid of this Creature and rid of him now was to make the host body weak. As I was about to bite at his arm, he threw me off of him hard. I landed really close to the fire burning some of my fur. I yelped and got up as fast as I could, I could see he was lunging for me just in time to move off to the right and for him to land straight into the fire. I couldn’t believe my luck, but also bad luck cause now the host body was dying and this creature killed him. As the black smoke starts rising from the fire, the creature voice said he would be back and with reinforcements and he drifts away fast to the north. I shift and turn back to Roy who had the boy cradled against his chest, ready to bolt if things got ugly.
I walk to him to see the boy’s eyes were that of a reborn Royal, like Aria’s and Bella’s. Maybe the Creature was telling the truth, but then wouldn’t the doctor that studied her after she died would have told us she was pregnant right? I save that thought for later and ask the boy what his name was.
“My name is Wyatt, Daddy.” he response in the quietest voice.
“Well Wyatt we are going to take you back to my place to clean you up and get some food in you. How does that sound?” I told him.
He agreed that sounded nice and we loaded up in the car. By the time we got to my place Wyatt was asleep again. I carefully grabbed him from the back and cradled him against my chest trying not to wake him and take him inside with Roy following behind. I unlock the apartment door and tell Roy I would be back and I headed into the spare bedroom and put the little boy down on the bed and covered him up. He must be exhausted, who knows how long that creature had him and what things he had to deal with, but that all could wait until the morning.
