Nova was keeping her features and tone professional, but Dominic knew her well enough to be able to tell that she was only barely keeping it together. This was not how she wanted this conversation to go.
“So,” she hedged, “if Colby doesn’t agree, we can talk about further adjustments?” she asked snarkily. Probably already planning how she would convince him to side with her on this.
Dominic could already tell how protective Colby had become of Nova. Dominic was sure Colby would only agree under duress to less protection of her after the brutality that had occurred over this weekend.
“No,” Dominic answered. “I was just trying to make a point. Ultimately, it’s not up for negotiation.”
