Chapter 7: Luke

796 Words
“Oh my! Such a magnificent sight you are, my dear husband.” Nicole said, as she descended the front stairs. Luke sat aside his black Stallion, Phillip, and reminded her of that glorious night in Italy. He was dress the same way as he had been that night, all black clothes that hugged his muscular frame so nicely and his long black hair blowing in the light night breeze. He was still the most handsome, breathtaking man she’d even seen. “You look gorgeous this evening, my Queen. I love that dress on you.” Luke replied and held out his hand to help her up. Nicole secured their lunch pack onto Phillip’s saddle, then took his hand and leapt up to sit sidesaddle in front of him. Her satin, silver cocktail dress and silver slippers glowed in the bright moonlight and made her eyes shine even brighter. She saw the hungry look in Luke’s golden eyes and knew he really wanted to whisk her back upstairs to their room. She would not stop him if he tried, for she wanted the same thing as well. Luke clicked his tongue and set Phillip into a steady canter. Twenty minutes later, they reached a secluded little patch of soft grass on the bank of the river. Luke hopped down, and then reached up to help her down. “So long ago, Luke. This is the very spot we were sitting that terrible night when your home was attacked and burned.” Nicole said and sighed longingly. “Yes, my love. It’s such a beautiful spot though, I couldn’t help wanting to bring you back here.” Luke replied as he spread out their blanket. The moon was high and full in the sky and reflected beautifully off the smooth, glassy, blue/grey water of the river. The whole scene had almost a majestic feel about it, as a soft fog settled over the top of the water. “Come sit with me, my Queen.” Luke said, holding his hand out to her. He was already laying down on the blanket, propped up on his elbow, his right knee bent up. He looked like a statue of a handsome Greek god; positively delicious. Nicole took his hand and settled down next to him. “You know, you were trying to ask me something that night. I wondered time and time again all those years you were gone what it possibly could have been and came up empty every time.” She said and looked down at him. Luke was curling a lock of her hair around his finger, and then let it go to fall back into place. “I was going to ask you, my love, if you would marry me.” He replied simply and smiled when she spun her head and looked at him with a shocked expression. Luke chuckled and kissed the wedding ring he had lovingly place on her finger over two hundred years ago. “Yes, I wanted right then to make you my wife. However, it seemed that life had other plans for us at the time. Though many horrible things happened that threatened our love, it all worked out in the end and I am so honored to have you as my wife, the mother of my children, and the Queen of my immortal heart.” Nicole’s eyes misted with unshed tears and her heart ached with joy. “I love you too, Luke Sangre. Werewolf King of my immortal heart.” Luke ran his fingers into her hair and cupped the back of her head to pull her down for a kiss. Nicole placed her hand on his heart and moaned her pleasure as their lips met. “Luke, can I ask you one question?” She asked, pressing her forehead to his. “Of course, my love, ask me anything.” He replied. “When you were gone all those years away from me, was there ever another woman?” She asked her voice sounding a little strained. Luke was surprised by her question, but he knew that she needed to know. He smiled at her and kissed her tenderly before he answered. “No, my love, there was never another woman. My heart, my mind, my soul, and my body all belonged to you already. You are my first, my last, and my only woman.” He replied, accentuating every phrase with a kiss on her cheeks, ears, eyes, and lips. Nicole began to cry happy tears and melted into his strong, passionate kiss. He laid her down on the blanket and she surrendered her entire self to the only man she had ever loved. The man who was truly the King of her immortal heart.
