Jane's POV. I stood there completely frozen, my heart hammering so hard it felt like it would explode out of my chest. Kevin’s words hung heavy in the air between us and I could not make myself move for a long second. The house was too quiet around us. The only sounds were the hum of the refrigerator from the kitchen and the soft breathing of my husband Charles asleep on the sectional couch just a few feet away.
