‘I couldn’t believe it when Daddy rang to say you were coming for lunch with us.’ She hugged Sarah in a tight embrace. ‘After everything that happened yesterday, I couldn't imagine you'd ever want to see any of us again.’
Sarah gave her a tearful smile. Mary’s happiness was entirely genuine.
‘How could I not want to see my own twin sister?’ she gasped.
‘Oh, Sarah!’ Mary hugged her more closely. ‘Isn’t this so fantastic?’ She hooked her arm through Sarah’s. ‘We’re going to have so many fun adventures together,’ she said, guiding her through the front door.
‘Ahem?’
They both turned to face the direction of the pointed cough. Mary grinned at her father’s troubled appearance. ‘Everything is okay, Daddy, you can come inside too,’ she authorized him graciously.
