The morning mist on Lake Geneva didn't clear all at once. It hung low over the dark water, softening the sharp, clean lines of the renovated estate. The old gravel driveway had been paved over with smooth, dark stone, but the pine trees still smelled the same—sharp and damp from the overnight rain. Inside the main house, the heavy mahogany that used to make the hallways feel like a museum had been stripped away. In its place were wide, open spaces and low-slung, minimalist furniture with soft, organic curves. The house wasn't hiding anything anymore.
