Maybe It Is Fake

"Wha-?"

I jolt out of my sleep, goosebumps linger up and down my arm. Why? I ask myself in my mind. I get out of bed and walk out of my room, looking around for my mother. No sign of her, but she is off today. Guess I will have to make breakfast by myself today. No one to talk to, no words to be spread. Only silence was spread in this instance. I am unsettled, I may not even eat breakfast. As I think those words, I lay the bowl on the counter and walk outside of the house. I cover my eyes from the blinding morning sun. I squint my eyes, it even harder to see. Thank god it's a Saturday, too much is on my mind for me to concentrate on school. I walk back inside, looking down at my feet, still wondering where my mother went.

"Mom?"

I say, hoping to get a response. My hope has plummeted after hearing nothing but my own thoughts. I sigh, looking around for something to amuse myself. Hmmm, I could watch television, or finish a story I had written over the summer. Jess might be available, Hopefully he is. I walk out of the house, not thinking about anything. I walk a few blocks down to his house, feeling uneasy as I do. Once I arrive, I ring the door bell. Ding ding dong is heard from inside the house.

"Please answer."

I say aloud, looking around. I am relieved, hearing Jess's voice.

"Hey! What are ya up to?"

He says in his very cheery voice. I turn around, despair shinning in my eye.

"H-hey Jess"

I say, attempting to smile.

"Can I hang with you for a while?"

I ask him, hoping for him to say yes. He nods slowly, looking in my eyes, attempting to find an emotion. I walk inside, the cold air hits me, shivers crawl down my back.

"Have you been having weird feelings in the past few days?"

I look back at Jess, waiting for an answer.

"Ummmm, No?"

I look away from him, ignoring his confused looks. I sit on his couch, looking up at him then beside me on the couch, then him again. Attempting to tell My guy friend to sit next to me. He just stared at me as if I was insane. If only I could read his mind...
