In the back of the car, Des is asleep and Maddy is playing a game on some console she has, both of them quiet and content. Next to me, Sterling is leaning back, looking at the world as it passes him by.
I know that it’s a bit early in the year, so it’s still cold outside and there aren’t many flowers that will bloom, but that doesn’t matter right now. I want to show Sterling something special, something that will be amazing and impressive no matter the time of year.
I finally turn off the main road that we’ve been on for the last two or so hours and drive on a smaller road that winds through fields and small clusters of trees and then we finally drive into a small town. I slow down and park the car at the side of the road.
