Chapter Four
STERLING
The fourteenth of October will never be our favourite day of the year, but we were finally able to get Lilly to babysit Maddy and to book a restaurant and a hotel for the evening.
We’re not far away, just an hour from the city, but we felt like we needed to get away for an evening. Today is significant for Wilder, for Wilder and Logan actually. So, I wanted to do something special, hoping to make this all a bit better. Hoping really.
At the same time, it’s my birthday in just over two weeks, so combining the two seemed smart since I don’t think we’ll be able to get a babysitter again soon.
Wilder walks behind me with our bags for the weekend. It’s not much, we’re really only here overnight, but we wanted to make it extra special.
