50. Serissa

Serissa I woke in the same filthy bed in the dingy white room with the buzzing florescent light and wanted to scream. I probably would have if it didn't feel like I had tried to eat a desert and my head was about to explode. Actually, it wasn't just my head that was killing me. My whole body felt like I'd been hit by a truck, or maybe an entire convoy. I didn't realize it was possible to be in this much pain and not die. Sweat was running like rivers down me, adding even more stains to the mattress, but it was the last thing I cared about. I needed the pain to stop so I could think. I'd lost count of how many times I'd opened my eyes in this room, and each time was worse than the last. The sound of the door opening and the soft skittering of feet drew my attention, but I didn't both
