Chapter Three

1340 Words
Chapter Three, Hazel couldn’t remember falling asleep after what Zachary told her. He knew that she protected her sister after all, and this haunted Hazel. It scared her that he was the source of all the evil in this universe. Even though she couldn’t remember falling asleep, Hazel woke up in the same bedroom. The only difference was, the sun now hit the bedroom, making the whole place bright. Yesterday the place seemed so dark and lonely, while now it seemed like someone gave a life to it. It felt a little comfortable. Hazel sat up from the bed and touched her ankle. There was no pain anymore. It confused her. How is it possible that the devil has healing powers? Wasn’t he supposed to be destructive? “God, you think so much. Come down. Now!”, Hazel heard his voice in her head and she knew that he just talked to her through his mind reading powers. ‘He’s annoying’, Hazel said out a little loud. “I can be more annoying if you keep this behavior if yours”, she heard the voice again. A tall, slender demon opened the door. The creaking sounds of the door opening made Hazel’s arm hairs stand. She stared the door with fear dripping out of her eyes. . It was a woman. “You disgusting creatures”, she mumbled as she threw a dark green dress on Hazel’s bed. Hazel didn’t move. She was scared to death. “With all your honesty and purity. It disgusts me. It’s like swallowing a glass of glitter… disgusting”, the wicked looking creature said to Hazel. “Maybe your sister-“, she said, but Hazel cut her off. “Don’t ever talk about my sister”, she growled. Courage took over Hazel. She would let that wicked creature talk s**t about herself, but not her family. Hazel’s action took both of them surprised. The demon didn’t expect Hazel to talk back at all, and neither did Hazel. Fear suddenly took over again when the evil creature stepped closer. A smirk formed on her boney face. “Hmm, didn’t think Angels were the kinds of creatures to talk back”, she hissed right before she turned around to leave. “Wear that. He picked it out himself”, she said and closed the door behind her. Hazel stared at the dark green dress. It looked big and heavy, but beautiful, nevertheless. Trying to catch her breath, after holding it in out of fear for that demon, Hazel got up from the bed. Both of her feet on the ground, she looked at the ankle that was once hurt. A sigh left her mouth as she hesitated to put the dress on. “You better wear it. Don’t think for a second that you are free to choose”, his voice said inside Hazel’s head. She panicked and quickly grabbed the dress. As Hazel was undressing herself, she suddenly got a scary thought… 'What if… what if he can see me undressing myself?’ A chuckle rang inside her head. “If I wanted to see that stupid body of yours, I would make you put that dress on in front of me. Get dressed. I’m losing my patience”, Zachary said inside Hazel’s head, making her quickly put on the dress. Staring at herself in the mirror, a small smile crept on Hazel’s face. She liked the way the dress looked on her. Hazel had never worn such a dark color. In heaven, everyone wore light colors. Her bare feet made small sounds as she stepped closer to the door of her bedroom. Downstairs. She had to go downstairs. Hazel had gotten used to her room, and it felt like a safe place in this dark and scary castle. Tiny steps. One staircase before the other. It took Hazel so long to walk down the stairs. Her small body shivered as her bare feet touched the cold stone. The off shoulder dress didn’t do its job to keep her warm either. ‘Isn’t hell supposed to be hot? I’m cold all the time', Hazel thought to herself. Suddenly, a dark shadow appeared in front of her, making her squeal. “You’re so slow”, Zachary growled as he appeared. Out of nowhere, he picked Hazel in his arms up, making her flinch. The feeling of fear took over again. “Hold on tight”, he mumbled as black clouds blurred Hazel’s vision. Suddenly, she was downstairs. Hazel widened her eyes, still in his arms. Zachary slowly put Hazel down on the floor, not wanting her to hurt her ankle again. “It’s cold, most of the time. Get used to it, weakling”, Zachary mischievously growled as he walked off. But just before he was about to be disappeared, a sudden form of courage took over again. “It’s Hazel. Hazel Goodman, for your information”, Hazel said coldly. The devil stopped walking. Slowly, he turned around to face her, with a smirk on his face. “Don’t you dare talk back to me. Weakling”, he said inside Hazel’s head, making her shiver. The same rude, slender demon that put the dress on Hazel’s bed came out to lead her to a table. The food looked absolutely disgusting. The hunger Hazel felt inside her stomach made her feel uncomfortable, but the food that they served made her feel more uncomfortable. She felt like vomiting. It wasn’t like anything they served in heaven. The table was full of glasses filled with blood and plates with meat. “Eat”, the demon told her. Hazel looked at her and shook her head. “Eat! You disgusting creature!”, she hissed, making Hazel flinch. The wicked creature’s voice echoed through the halls. Zachary appeared behind her. “You dare raise your voice at my future wife?!”, he suddenly screamed. Hazel got frozen in her place at his words. 'Future wife?, What the biscuit!’. Zachary's eyes turned dark. He turned into a beast. Suddenly, his hands wrapped around the demon’s neck. A loud c***k echoed in the room, making Hazel flinch and jump back, fearing him and what he had just done to the demon. The wicked creature’s body fell to the floor and black blood slowly started to ooze out of her body. “P-Please…”, Hazel sobbed, backing away from Zachary. Zachary’s body turned into his usual form, without the evil eyes. He looked at Hazel’s trembling body. “D-don’t come c-closer!”, she cried out, making him raise his eyebrows. He stepped closer to her. Hazel wiped her tears with the sleeves of the green dress and put her hands in front of her body, trying to protect herself. “I won’t hurt you”, Zachary said inside Hazel’s head. Closer and closer. His body stood so close to hers. Even though she had wiped her tears, they kept flowing. Suddenly, he cupped her face, making Hazel widen her eyes. “I didn’t mean to scare you”, he said in her head again, keeping eye contact. Hazel stared at him, completely frozen. His eyes softened, seeing Hazel’s rosy nose and her puffy eyes. Moving his head closer to hers, Hazel gasped, thinking he’d kiss her. She squeezed her eyes shut, wanting it to go by quickly. But suddenly, she felt something warm on her cheek, then the other. Opening her eyes slowly, Hazel saw Zachary wiping her tears away. As soon as she opened her eyes, he stepped back. As if he was confused with his actions. “Get ready. We will leave in a few hours”, he said coldly. A snap with his fingers and the dead demon on the floor disappeared. “W-where…?”, Hazel whispered. “Earth. We’re going to visit the stupid earthlings”, he said inside her head.
