Adrian POV I don't mean to be here. Didn't plan to drive past Mel's Diner at 11:30 PM on a Tuesday. But here I am, parked across the street, watching through the window. Jules is inside. I can see her moving between tables, order pad in hand. She's so thin. Even from here, I can tell. How is that possible? How does someone shrink that much in a month? A customer says something to her. She forces a smile that doesn't reach her eyes. My hands grip the steering wheel. I should leave. Should go home and pretend I wasn't stalking her workplace.
