Shifting around from the right foot to the left, I tapped my knuckles against the door for the third time. “Gemma, it's me. Are you going to open the door, or do I have to break it down?”
I paused, listening carefully. Soon enough, the shuffle of feet reached my ears, the locks sliding away from the door before it swung inwards.
“Look what I brought!” I said cheerfully, jumping up slightly. “A little something to cheer you up.” I presented a bouquet, chocolates, and a few essential items she would need since she'd decided to stay here for the next couple of days.
“They look great, thank you.” Gemma flashed a fake smile my way before trudging back into the room.
