Staying at home had its perks, such as not being disturbed by work requests or annoying assistants who were opinionated about a lot of things.

Sadly, my newfound peace was short-lived when the doorbell rang.
I had half a mind to ignore it, but then different possibilities ran through my mind, from business associates to relatives, and I grudgingly got up.
Swinging the door open with more force than it required, I came face to face with Detective Joe Martins, a face I never thought to see again.
