“Are you ready?” I asked, smoothing down the sides of his jacket.
Asher's face was blank, not betraying any hint of emotion.
Even when he was informed to take back his rightful position, he barely reacted.
I tried not to overthink it, but deep down, I was worried about him.
“I'm fine, Nova. Stop fretting.” He says with a smile, pulling my hand away.
The announcement was to be made public this morning, in front of the press and employees. Asher was one of the most confident men I knew, but I had doubts that these past weeks have taken a toll on him.
One quick look at his watch and he picked up his suitcase. “We need to go, or else we'll be late.”
The drive down was quiet and slightly awkward as we each kept to ourselves.
