Xavier grinned, pleased with the outcome of the negotiation, and smoothly got up to his feet.
My head turned to follow his movement.
“Where do you think you're going?” I asked, halting him in his tracks.
“You need me to find a willing culprit, right? I'll need a couple of hours to sort things out.”
Glancing at my watch, I gave him a dismissive look. “Please be quick; I have a couple of things I need to attend to today.”
He bows slightly, leaving me alone in the musty warehouse.
To distract myself, I pulled out my tablet and scanned through its contents, keeping busy with work.
Soon enough, I grew claustrophobic and in need of fresh air, so I walked out to the entrance, only to see Xavier talking with a man whose face I couldn't quite see.
