Inara
As soon as my eyes fly open and I say Bryan’s name and gasp for air I see the very man right in front of my face looking down at me with a happy but worried facial expression.
“Inara? Can you hear me?” He asks as his hands that are on both sides of my face stroke my cheek. I can’t help but close my eyes and take a very painful but deep breath in.
“You came for me. It really was you.” I said to him as I opened my eyes to look into his gray eyes that make me smile.
“I will always come for you when you call me.” He says back with a smile of his own.
“Inara, I need you to tell me what happened. Who did this to you?” I know I have to tell him now that it has come to this and that he saw everything that happened to me.
“First you need to get my sisters, Sarah and Kelly. Please, Bryan, you need to get them, they are not safe.” I say to him as I start to panic.
Bryan leans down and kisses my head while one hand runs along my left arm. It’s crazy how fast it calms me down. As if knowing how it makes me feel I can feel Bryon smile and pull away from me.
“I’ve been looking but I can’t find anything about you anywhere. It’s as if you do not exist. Even at the restaurant, I met you at. They only know your first name, They knew nothing else. It’s like someone went in and removed your file.” He sounds pissed off about it so I try to lift my arm to touch his face but I can’t, I don’t have the energy. He must have noticed because he grabs my left hand and holds it to his cheek. His amazing gray eyes close and he takes in a few deep breaths before they open again but his eyes were now silver. I must be going nuts. People's eyes do not change color like that.
“That’s because they can. They have a ton of power and an insane amount of money. I don’t think there are many people who have more power than they do.” I can’t help but close my eyes trying to hold back the tears that threaten to fall.
"I'm here, don't worry. They won't be able to do anything to you anymore but I need to know who they are so I can get your sister's." He has a very calm voice which helps my nerves calm down too.
"My parents did this to me." I say so quietly I didn't think he heard me at first.
"Your parents did this to you? Your own f*****g parents did this to you?!" He growls and he looks beyond pissed off.
I slowly start to move away from him, trying to ignore the pain, because he is starting to scare me a bit. I mean his eyes are definitely changing colors, well flashing different colors. They are going between his normal gray to black and then back again. What the f**k is going on? Have I lost my mind? This can't be real.
He must not think that I pulled away from him and he can probably see some fear in my face because he takes a few and mutters a sorry and then tells me not to move. I'm honestly shocked I was able to move. Even though it was only like an inch, that's an inch more than I was before.
"Was this done by the same person who hurt you the last time I asked?" His eyes are closed now and I can see he is trying to keep himself from exploding.
"Yes." My voice is small at this point because I know what's about to come and I'm scared.
"I need a name."
"Have you heard of Max and Brenda Dorrance?" I ask him not looking at him but looking at the wall behind him.
"I have." He says with a voice I can't place.
I look up at him trying to figure it out but I can't. His face is blank and he is no longer staring at me but is now looking blankly at the door.
“Bryan?”
His head snapped down to look at me with silver eyes and he seemed to be wanting to tell me something but not wanting to at the same time. Maybe that’s what the look was earlier but for some reason, I don’t think it was. He slowly pets the top of my head and sighs before he speaks.
“I have sent someone to get your two sisters but if my memory is correct don’t they have five daughters total? One of which I can’t stand the sight of, but what about your other two sisters?” Well, I’m not sure how to explain this one to him… but I have to at some point so I guess now is better than him just finding out later on if he doesn’t kick me and my baby sisters out.
“They have two daughters that are their biological daughters and three they adopted.” I said to him trying to make it so I didn’t have to explain everything but so he knew that I was not their real daughter nor were my little sisters I love and care about. However, he tilts his head and waits for me to explain more. Ugh!
“They gave birth to Linda,” As I said her name I saw him give a disgusted look. Yep you and me buddy. “They wanted to have more kids and tried for three years before they decided to adopt another child, me. However, they still wanted more kids after ten years and they came back with Sarah. Two years later and they still couldn’t get pregnant so they went and got Kelly however shortly after Kelly came into the picture they found out that my mother was pregnant with Nelly.” I explain to him how the family tree was broken down.
Just then there was a knock at the door just before it opened and a man that looked like he was a doctor came walking in with a smile on his face.
“Well look who is up and talking. You had us worried. Now how about I check you out and make sure you’re doing okay?” The doctor looking guy said. I nod my head and look at Bryan who seems lost in thought again so I look back at the new dude.
The doctor, yes he was a doctor, I made sure to ask before I let him touch me. He had Bryan step outside the room while he checked my whole body over and made sure I was healing okay, talk about pain. Thankfully, he gave me something for the pain after, lifted the bed up so I was no longer laying down flat, and then stepped out and sent Bryon back in who came right to me and held my hand in his.
“So why don’t you want me to get your other two sisters? I don’t want half the story, I want the full story here and now. If I find out you left something out I’m going to be pissed.” He said but seemed a little annoyed but more curious than anything. I look away from him and out the window.
