Phases

After what seemed like forever, Marcus finally managed to stop throwing up. The only trouble now was that he did not know how to process this bombshell. Standing up from the toilet bowl, he pulled the chain and then washed his mouth out with water from the sink, despite his mum once telling him it wasn't healthy. So what. Right now he just didn't care much for her words of foe wisdom. So drinking from the tap wasn't healthy, and what? Being a werewolf was? There were just so many questions swirling around his head. He wished he already had the answers. How was he a werewolf? Why did his parents keep it from him all these years? How many other werewolves were there? How did the supernatural even exist? He just didn't know where to even begin with the processing part of finding out the truth. Well he'd gotten through phase one for sure. Phase one was just getting rid of the sick feeling that came on strong as those words were said by his father. Yep. Pretty sure he could check throwing up until his stomach was empty off the list. Right now he didn't even wanna face his parents, how could they have kept something this huge from him all these years? He was so unbelievably angry right now and what he needed was to clear his head. He decided that confronting them could wait until later. Instead he was going to go out for a walk and calm his mind down. He needed space to think about things and he wouldn't get it being stuck in the house. Exiting the bathroom he threw on a pair of blue Nike trainers and walked towards the front door, he wasn't in the mood for any drama from his parents about him walking out leaving their conversation unfinished, so he quickly exited and slammed the door behind him. It was raining but not heavily, and Marcus didn't mind the rain, it actually helped him in a way. Well that... and it suited his mood. Pulling out his headphones he plugged them into his phone and within seconds Green Day's 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' filled his ears, and as usual he found the music very soothing as he walked the empty streets of Moonsong Valley. Moonsong Valley wasn't as magical as it sounded. In fact, it was really just your basic little town. The centre consisted of a huge shopping mall, which was plastered with burger bars, expensive jewellery shops and designer clothes shops. The houses were arranged ever so perfectly, on one side of each street there would be the posh, rich people houses, and on the other side were the rented houses that weren't poor quality but rather average. Then there was the town's nursery, infant school, secondary school and college, which were all in the same area. Though Marcus's favourite places were the skate park where he'd first met Joshua when they were ten years old, and the cinema where he had seen countless movies, mostly with his ex girlfriend Alayna. Oh how he would just love to forget the cheating bit... Just as he was about to travel down a thought train of hating on his ex, his phone buzzed with a message from Joshua, breaking him out of his own head. He sighed in frustration, thinking how he couldn't even have one moment alone and looked down at his phone, reading the message. "Bro, my house, 10 minutes." The message read. He really wasn't in the mood to be around people, but maybe it would be a good idea to talk to his best friend. After all, they were like brothers more than friends. Ten minutes! Picking up his pace, he changed directions and began heading for his best friend's house. He kind of needed someone to talk to who wouldn't pretend to be wiser because they were older like his parents or ask stupid questions like if he was okay as his sister often did on his bad days and he knew he could trust Joshua with a secret. His best friend was as loyal as a golden retriever. He didn't squeal secrets nor had he ever ditched him for the "popular crowd" at school. Joshua's loyalty stretched back to year seven in secondary school, even though they had met not long before that. Marcus settled in easy, whilst Joshua had trouble with bullies ruining his lunch and work and spreading horrible lies about him. That was until the day Marcus had stuck up for him, after that, those horrible "popular" kids never came near him again. It was one of the proudest moments of Marcus's life and he knew that Joshua never forgot it. Reaching the front porch, his thoughts were chased away when Joshua opened the door before Marcus even had the chance to knock. That was fast, he thought to himself quietly. "Hey bro, what did you want me here for?" Marcus greeted as his best friend ushered him in the house and up the stairs to his room. This room was one of the places in the house that Marcus was most familiar with. The turquoise paint that coated the walls was mostly covered by rock band posters, movie posters and pictures of him and his twin sister through the years. It was one of the places he could relax without worrying about any eves droppers. "Dude. Big. News. Big. Big. Big. News." Joshua replied slumping on one of the two red bean bags that were near his TV and putting his arms up above his head, resting them there. "I could say the same thing." Marcus commented, and then added, "But you go first, mine.....it's kinda messy." He finished with a small sigh that went unnoticed, luckily for him. He wasn't trying to dampen the mood for his best friend. That was the last thing he wanted to do. "Julianna and Sam broke up." Joshua grinned. Marcus shot him an odd look. One: Why was Joshua so cheery about his sister getting her heart broken? Two: What made his best friend call him over just to say that? Three: He did really like Julianna but never would he ever wish her bad in any relationship that she got in, no matter how much it hurt him to see her happy with someone else. That just wasn't who he was. "What makes you think that's important to me?" He quizzed, hoping that Joshua hadn't sussed out his long buried feelings for Julianna. He didn't want a case of his best friend turning against him just because he had feelings for his sister. With the question he'd just been asked, Joshua rolled his eyes and laughed a little before responding, "Bro. Seriously? C'mon I know you're in love with her." He answered with a cheeky grin, teasing Marcus the same way he usually did. "Well.....alright I admit it, but it just sucks that she got her heart broken again." He caved in with a sigh. He really hated to think of her in pain. "Yeah yeah but you're missing the point because now you have a shot at getting close to her and healing her broken heart." Joshua replied sounding so smart. "Ha...I wish. But with what I got on my mind right now it's the last thing I can do." He groaned unhappily. "Anyhow what was your news?" Joshua asked swiftly changing the subject knowing teasing Marcus would piss him off. "Well.....I'm a werewolf." Marcus blurted out without thinking it through. For a split second, the room fell silent. Then suddenly Joshua started howling with laughter. That was not the reaction that Marcus had expected.
