Chapter 4 Ashley POV It has been a couple of months since that bastard, Jayden did that despicable thing and although it's difficult to do, I have been trying every possible means to get rid of the pain and focus on my life. His words that day are what I'll never forget, he dared to tell me that I'm not his type, just imagine the nonsense. After the incident, I was sacked from where I used to work and here I am today, a jobless young lady. I have applied for work in many places, but none of them ever accepted me, for some reason best known to them. I've been at home these whole months, but thank God that Ruby's interesting stories have been keeping me company. I wonder what would've happened if I was completely bored here, who knows, I would've been dead by now. It's Tuesday today, and I'm going out for my usual job hunting, who knows luck might just shine on me today. Stepping out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my chest, I quickly got dressed and left the house afterward, going to God knows where. Strolling down the road in search of a job, who knows there may be a restaurant or bar having a slot for a waitress, I can just apply and get these whole things done. The sound of my ringing phone brought me to an abrupt halt, and I sighed deeply bringing it out of my pocket. I wonder why the caller had decided to call me, I hate disturbing. "Yeah, this is Ashley. How may I help you?" I said lazily as soon as I picked up the call. "This is Rodney Michael, an agent from LA group of company. You applied for a job about two months ago, and the interview is today. You should be here in ten minutes," The masculine voice sounded through the phone and my eyes narrowed. What the heck! I have forgotten that I applied for a job like that in a company. Wondering what I applied for? Well, it was office maintenance I applied for, I wonder why it took them forever to think about. And wait! Did he just say an interview? Why the heck do I have to go for an interview just for office maintenance? Is that some joke? Wow! Jobs these days are nothing, but jokes. "Alright, I'll be there," I said and with that, the call ended. Letting out a deep sigh, I flagged down a cab and headed to the company. While on the road, I put a call through to Ruby to tell her of my whereabouts. After a few minutes of drive, the car finally stopped in front of the company, and I paid him before hurrying to the gate and straight to the entrance door. Well, I know I shouldn't be overly excited about this, but this job means a lot to me. I'm tired of being a liability to my dear friend. Even if she's not complaining, I'm pained and I don't want this to continue. I should be able to help with some things at home too. Stepping into the company, I was directed to the waiting room where I waited forever before it was finally my turn to be interviewed. Of course, a lot of people were there for the interview. The interview took an hour and after everything, the man told me that I was hired. As bad as it is, I have to resume work early in the morning and close late in the evening. The damn rules said that I should be the first to come to the company and also the last to leave, who does that? Leaving the company, I took a cab home tiredly. "I'm home," I announced tiredly, throwing myself on the bed. "Welcome. So, how did it go? Did you get hired?" Ruby asked, turning from her laptop to look at me. Well, she was typing, as usual. "It went well and I got hired. There's a big problem, Ruby," I whined, throwing myself on the bed. "What's it?" She asked curiously. "The damn rule is killing. They want me to come to work before everyone and also leave after everyone, I mean, who does that? They're going to deprive me of my dear sleep," I whined frustratingly and she rolled her eyes at me. "You aren't serious, girlfriend," She rolled her eyes and returned her attention to what she was doing. The rest of the day was funfilled with Ruby. It was finally evening, and we retired to sleep. I didn't know how many hours I'd been out, but the sound of my blaring alarm pulled me out of my deep slumber, and I groaned angrily, forcing my eyes open. Looking over to the bed, I found Ruby sleeping soundly and I just couldn't help admiring her. Gosh! I feel like I can sleep so peacefully but here I am, waking up early. Getting off the bed lazily, I dragged my feet into the bathroom and did my usual routine. After almost an hour, I was all ready for work. Glancing at the wristwatch, I shook my head. It was just 6:15am and I have to be at work by 6:30am, this is hell I'm into, and not work. Since there was no time to have breakfast, I left for work. I took a cab to the company and as soon as I got in, I started work immediately before my colleagues arrived to help me out. An hour later, we were done with cleaning, and some of the staffs already arrived at the company and had gotten to work. Stepping out of the last office I went to clean, I collided with someone and almost fell, but someone caught me. "Are you OK?" I heard the familiar voice and I batted my eyelashes, trying to remember where I heard the voice before. Raising my gaze to check who it was, I almost froze on the spot at the sight I beheld, it was the young man from months ago, the one from the park. What the heck is he doing here? "You?" We both said at the same time, pointing at each other...
