Varek watched what remained of his warriors, training at the peak of dawn. Barely fifty soldiers left. His jaw ticked. He would have had a better number now if only Tahla hadn’t been there… there at the Lunaris. Alive. Thriving. He could not piece it together in his mind, the fact that she had survived. He felt the bond snap and sever. It had ached in his chest to the point where he nearly could not breathe, but he fought through it and made Soraya his bride, though she did not seem to be what he had thought. He turned to see said woman walking with a small group, laughing as though their clan was not on its way to hell. He grimaced as they passed the training grounds without as much as a care or greeting his way. He turned back to the group before shouting orders to change routine. G
