Chapter 14                   So many things were brought into my room as I healed. Brian came in after his Alpha duties were done. We would have dinner together and the nurses would bring in flowers, stuffed wolves, bears, and or food at times from the pack telling me thank you or get well soon. I’ve only had my wolf for a few days and my healing is remarkable. After I woke up two days ago Brian told me that someone had gone to the front of the mansion seeing Doc out there. He told Doc what happened to Brian and his father and he came over to help them. When Brian felt the pain in his back he knew something was wrong so he came running to me. He jumped onto the large rouge forcing him to let go of my mussel and Brian ripped into him. It ended with Brian ripping the rouges head off and carrying me to Doc.           “So how’s everyone doing?” I ask Brian as he finishes his meal. I had finished mine a few minutes before him. “Well everyone has helped clean the area and started rebuilding on some of the burnt down homes.” “That’s good. Did Alpha Sèitheach men make it back okay?” “They haven’t left yet. They want to make sure you are okay and witness George’s death. Alpha Sèitheach will be here tonight.” “Oh okay. How’s your father doing?” I ask him worried that his father might still hate me. “He’s healing in the in-laws cabin far from here.” He says chuckling. A knock is heard on the door and I look at the door. “Come in.” I say. “Luna, Alpha.” Doc says coming in with some papers in hand. “Alpha I need for you to sign this.” Doc says walking over to Brian. “Doc when can I leave?” I ask pouting. “Umm…you caaannn leaveee…now.” He says waiting for Brian to finish signing the papers. “Really Doc you could have just told me after the papers are signed.” “Got to have a little bit of drama in your life.” He says smiling. “I have enough being mated to Brian.” I say laughing. Doc joins into the laughing but quickly leaves as Brian looks at him. “What do you mean by that?” He says standing up and walking over to me. He leans over me on top of the bed. “Well I’m always saving your ass.” I say giggling. “Oh really?” He tells me leaning his head to me. He plants a kiss on my forehead and pushes away walking to a bag he brought in. “Here are some clothes so can at least walk back to the pack house. Tonight I’m holding a barbecue for everyone. I would like you to get ready when we get back. Everyone is working on the barbecue already. It’s going to be evening soon.” “Slow down Brian.” I tell him getting off the bed. I feel a slight pinch in my back and Brian came over to me. “I’m fine.” I tell him. “I’m sorry everyone has been working me to the bone and I’ve been so worried about you.” “Brian I’ve been through so much without you and I have survived it. Now with you I have survived as well. You’re not going to get rid of me so soon.” I say planting a light kiss on his cheek. I get dressed and he grabs my stuff and we walk out of the hospital.  We walk back the pack house stopping at times to thank the pack members that came over to us telling us they are happy I’m out or that I’m doing better. Seeing everyone’s happy faces make me happy. Brian and I make it to the pack house making our way up to the bedroom and his warrior came to talk to him. “I’ll be back. Go ahead and get ready.” He says kissing me on my cheek and leaving me alone in the room. I strip out of my clothes looking for a dress to wear for tonight. I pull out a burgundy dress that goes to my knees and shows a little at the top. I found some black thick heeled shoes and placed them next to the bed. I lay the dress on the bed and make my way to the bathroom. I hop into the shower and let the hot water run over my skin. I wash my hair and body gently on my back so I don’t hit my wound. It’ll take about a few more days to completely heal is what Doc told me. I get out drying myself. When I entered the bedroom I start to dry my hair with the towel. I go to the dresser and find matching black bra and underwear. I pull them on then the dress. I do my best to zip it up it goes up to my shoulder blades but I only got it to the middle of my back. I stop trying and place my shoes on. I didn’t want to do my make-up tonight I’m done hiding myself, so I just grab some jewelry putting it on. I walk out of the bedroom and down the hall hoping to find someone. I stop and remember I still need to brush my hair. I walk back into the bedroom looking for my brush. I walk into the bathroom finding it on the counter under my towel. I brush my hair thinking about leaving it down. I hate putting my hair up while it’s wet. I turn around and gasp. “What are you doing here?” I say to the man in front of me. I’ve never seen him before and he stood in the bathroom doorway breathing heavily. ‘Brian!’ I mind linked thinking he could get here before the guys does anything. “What do you want?” “You killed my mate…” He says in a raspy voice. “If you were following George then that’s on you. I protected mine and my family. You should have never brought your mate into the fight.” “I had no choice.” He says dropping to the floor covering his eyes with his hands. He sobs in his hands grieving for his mate. I wanted to comfort him but I knew he’s mad at me for killing her so he could turn on me at any moment. “I’m sorry that things like this happen in war. I’m sure the moon goddess will give you a second chance mate.” The man looks up at me with teary eyes. “You think so?” “Yes she won’t give up on her children. Do you have a pack to go home to?” I ask seeing Brian in the bedroom slowly moving behind the man. He nods his head no. “If you want you can talk to the Alpha and he might let you join our family or find another pack that might?” He slumps further onto the ground holding himself crying. I look up at Brian unsure what to do. Brian’s eyes change and a few men come in to help the man off the floor. “They are going to take you to Doc and see if there’s anything he can do to make you feel comfortable.” Brian tells him. “Thank you.” The man says leaving the room with guards. Brian walks over to me grabbing my waist bringing me into his chest. I breathe in his scent calming me down. “Did he hurt you?” “No he just scared me.” I tell him looking up at him. “Can you help me with something?” “Anything?” I turn around moving my hair out of the way so he can zip me up. “Can you zip me up the rest of the way?” I feel his hands on the zipper and the other on the middle of my back. “Are you sure you want to wear this?” He says whispering. “It’s off my wound and won’t rub on it, my hair is long enough to cover it. I shouldn’t be ashamed by this; it’s a mark to show people that I’ll do anything to protect my family. My others will show that I won’t stop protecting my loved ones.” I say letting my hair down and turn towards Brian. He pulls me into his chest placing a kiss on the top of my head. “Brian are you okay?” I ask noticing his body is a bit stiff. “Yes. Everything is perfect.” He say pulling away from me and looking into my eyes. He leans forward while I reach up to his face pulling him into a kiss. We stand in the bathroom forgetting everything around us. Our lips dancing together, like we have danced this dance many times before. We part and breathe in, smiling at each other. “I think we should start heading to the party now.” He says fighting his wolf back as his eyes change colors. “Well Mr. Knight if you’re good to night you might get an after party.” I tell him walking away. He moves right behind me growling in my ear lightly gripping my waist pulling it into his. “And if I’m not?” “Well I guess you’ll have to wait and see.” I say with a slight growl as his eyes darken. “Brian! Myr!” We both stop and walk to the bedroom door that’s still open and see his mother walking down the hallway toward us. I let Brian go first and I follow behind him a few steps behind. “Mother is everything okay?” Brian asks coming to her. He hugs her and she sees me. She walks over to me and has her arms open. I walk to her and we hug. She keeps her arms low not touching my upper back. She lets go of me and opens her mouth. “Thank you for saving my husband and my son.” She says with a slight bow. “You’re welcome.” “Now the party has already started and everyone is waiting for the Luna to show up. They’re very excited.” She says grabbing my hand and pushing Brian toward the stair case. I smile and laugh a little. We stop at the top of the staircase and Brian’s father is as the base of the staircase. Vinnes walks down first and Brian holds his arm out. I place my hands around his arm and we both walk down the staircase smiling at the people closer to the back door. We step outside and everyone breaks into cheer. Brian walks me to a table that’s sitting up on a large stage. The two of us sit in the middle and Vinnes sits next to me with her husband. One the other side of Brian is his second in command and top warriors. On the table are food trays, candles, silverware, cute little wolf plush toys sitting around. Brian stands up walks around the table up to the front of the stage. He grabs the microphone moving it to his height. “Hello everyone thank you for coming to this gathering. I wanted to start out saying I’m sorry for the lost ones that can’t join us tonight. We will never forget our neighbors, loved ones, or friends that fought beside us to protect this family. After tonight there death will not be in vain for we have the man that started it all. We will deal with him later. So for now enjoy the wonderful food that has been prepared for you. Let’s be civil and merry.” Everyone claps and Brian comes back to my side. He sits placing a kiss on my head. We grab some of the food and begin eating. You can hear everyone talking and silverware clanking against themselves. I’m half way into my food and Brian’s father stands up walking over to the microphone. He taps the microphone clearing his throat. “Good evening everyone. I came up here because I wanted to check to see if everyone is having a good time so far.” Everyone claps and cheers. “That’s good. I’m glad everyone is in good spirits. I have come to all of you to see that I’m not a complete heartless beast as some of you have said but I understand why.” Brian’s father turns toward us bowing. “Thank you Brian for coming to our rescue, Myr thank you for saving all of us.” He stands up looking at me. “I’m proud to say that you are my soon to be daughter in law. I’m proud to say you are a strong human that will lead this pack to get victory and happiness.” He turns around facing the pack. “Does anyone object what I said?” The pack is quiet and I stand up walking around the table coming up to him. He turns toward me looking down at me. “I didn’t save anyone because I had too. I saved everyone because you’re family. Thank you for being a great father and Alpha. Thank you for protecting all that you did. We might had a rough beginning but all is in the past.” I tell him holding my arms out to hug him. He hugs me and the pack whoops and hollers at us. He let’s go of me and walks back to his seat. I walk to the microphone smiling and moving it down to my size. Some of the people giggle knowing I’m short and hate that the fact that everyone around me is tall. “Now I hear some of you laughing but remember you are the ones that get me the cookies from the top shelf after the Alpha tells me no.” I say laughing looking back at Brian. “No more of that!” He yells making everyone laugh. “Ignore that comment.” I say turning back to the pack. “Now I know all of you are wanting to get back to your food and conversations so I’ll make this quick. I have something to show all of you later tonight and thank you all for coming tonight. Now get back to eating.” I say backing away and walking to my seat. The pack claps and starts back up with eating and talking. Brian leans over me placing his arm over my shoulder pulling me in to his chest. “What do you have to show everyone?” “I’m going to show them my second chance and hoping for a family run.” I whisper. “Will they love it? “After we deal with George though.” Brian says. “Remember what I said about him?” “Yes and I have everything planned out for it.” “I just have to have the finishing blow though, that is the deal with the moon god.” “Yes everything will work out.” We all laugh, talk, eat, and enjoy every ones company. Vinnes and her husband talk to me for a few and people came up to the stage and talked about remembering our lost ones in the pack. Brian went up and named off a few people to recognize that has helped so much in the pack. He even let Sèitheach say a few things without slipping about my wolf. He hinted a few times but I don’t think anyone got it. So many happy faces and so many good things happening made my heart melt. I do not regret anything in my life that happened that got me here right now at this moment. I was about to tell Brian how happy I am but something didn’t feel right. Something kept drawing me to the forest to the left of the party. I get up as everyone continued to talk and eat. It was like no one saw me walking off the stage, through the crowd of tables and stop between the pack behind me and the trees in front of me. The feeling of someone with hate and rage staring you down from the darkness is a very scary and a venerable feeling. I wanted to run back to Brian and hide in his arms but I’m the Luna of this pack and it’s my job to help protect it. A loud deep menacing growl rips through the party and I don’t take my eyes off the forest where it came from. In the corner of my eye I see Brian running down the stage trying to get to me but I see a black wolf charging at me from the trees. I managed to jump out of the way but the wolf scratches my leg with his long claws as I move. I get up and turn to the wolf Brian now behind him. “Brian I think the plans have changed. I think it’s time for me to finish this once in for all.” I say. He nods his head and I feel for the wolf I was given. Hoping I can change into it without any problems. The big black wolf showing his canines and growling at me circling me like a wild beast is my father losing his mind. He’s moments from losing his humanity and I want him to at least die knowing it was me that ended him. I feel this burning pain in my chest allowing it to consume me. I feel myself change into a wolf in a blink of an eye and before I could shake my fur my father comes to me ready to rip off my head off. I jump at him shoving my claw to his neck pulling him down under me. I rip into his fur with my front and back legs as he tries to get out from under me. I put my mussel to his ear. I don’t know what came over me but I open my mouth and whisper in his ear. “You’ll never be able to hurt another child again. You’ll never be accepted by the moon goddess and you’ll rot in a shallow unmarked grave.” I put my teeth around his neck clamped down and I feel him give up going limp. I look at Brian back to George thanking the moon goddess and rip George’s head off his own body. I walk away with his head still in my mouth feeling everything come back to me. The pain and suffering he gave me. The betrayal he gave me as a child and the love he so told me he had as he sells me off to the other men. The father I once loved before all this I’ll still love and remember and after that happy family I once had is now dead and can never hurt anyone else. I drop the head down a ways away from his body and howled long and hard knowing everything is over now. I’m free and the moon goddess and god has forgiven me and gave me a second chance at life. I hear the pack howling and cheering. Brian comes over to me in his wolf form and I put my head under his. “It’s finally over!” I tell him. “Yes it is. Do you want to run with the pack?” “Yes.” I tell him. He mind links the pack and everyone that wants to join a run with their Alpha and Luna may join. Almost everyone joins us. We run for hours along our borders. Brian’s father and mother run right behind us and howl with us to let the other know everything is going to be fine now. Brian and I rub each other’s heads against each other still running and enjoying the feeling of the family behind us. The feel of the wind on my fur and the smell of the forest made me feel alive and ready to take on anything that came at us and we’ll take it on as a family.                                                                                 End                                                                                                                                                 Sharie
