"Are we there yet?" I ask for the millionth time. Yes, it is childish, no, I don't care. "
No, Mason, we are not there yet. You will know when we are there. So please, shut up."
I smile in the backseat, knowing I am irritating her. Well, she is the one who wanted this stupid trip. We have already been to two of the three packs and it was the most awkward thing I have ever done. The Alpha had a few girls that he had chosen based on bloodlines, and it was just me, them, and the Alpha and my parents at the dinner. Let's just say, I didn't feel the mate pull at all, so we left rather quickly.
So, to increase my chances, and speed up this stupid process, I suggest we do a big Gala since this is a very large pack and the neighboring packs can bring all their unmated wolves and everyone can have a chance to find their mate, including me, without it being awkward.
If we find our mate, you better worship her, we are not getting the crown without her and maybe she will change your man w***e ways. I mentally role my eyes at him. I know, I really do, the more we have been on this search, the more I actually want to find her, it's like there is a piece of me that isn't there...He gives me an excited yip and wags his tail. "We're finally here Mason." I pull myself out of my head and breathe a sigh of relief. Finally.

My dad and I are in the arena, circling each other, seeing who is going to make the first move. I have watched my father all my life and I know better than to believe that he is going to make the first move, he will try to wait me out first. I fake a left, then dodge right, biting his back leg. He yelps in pain and whirls around, crouching down. Before I can calculate his jump, he pounces at me. I jump to the left, causing him to barely miss me. Without missing a beat I charge after him, catching him off guard and drag him to the ground by his scruff. He growls but I hold on, trying to hold my dominance in this match. Just when I think I have it in the bag, he flips me forward and shoves his mouth in my neck, baring his teeth.
I'm not giving up just yet though, I get my back feet underneath him and push with all the adrenaline I have left. He flies off of me with a surprised yelp and I jump around in victory. Guess that was too soon, because I was in my celebratory mode when my father tackled me again, this time, jumping on my back and holding my head down into the ground until I whine in submission.
He lets go and I jump up, shaking out my fur and playfully nipping his mouth. Shift I nod and shift, grabbing my pair of shorts and a tank top. I change quickly and run out to the arena where all my friends and the pack had gathered to watch. We were going to do it in human form, but dad thought it would be too much of an advantage for him. I don't get long to celebrate because all of a sudden, we hear the royal trumpets. What the hell?
We all look to the Alpha who looks just as surprised as us. "Everyone except the warriors, return to your homes, Beta, Gamma, make sure there is a warrior placed every few houses." We all nod and take off in different directions.
"I need you to be sure your mother gets home okay and then go check the little ones next door. Please. This could be serious." I hold back my complaints and run back to the arena, taking my mom home.

So apparently this pack didn't think we were going to be here this soon, and being too wrapped up in myself I didn't call ahead to let them know we were coming. Oh well, they probably have a pack house that we can stay in for the night. We blare the royal trumpets, announcing our visit.
The gates open and the Alpha, along with his Beta and Delta are waiting there for us. I know from researching this pack that there are warriors out in the trees, watching us, waiting to see if we are here for trouble. I get out of the SUV along with my parents and walk up to the Alpha. They all bow their heads in respect and I nod at them.
"May I ask why the early arrival my King?" Both my parents look at me expectantly.
"Umm, yeah, that was my fault, it was just a bunch of awkward meetings and I came up with a plan to make it easier for everyone." The Alpha nods his head, "Go on." I look at my parents and my mother smiles.
"We want to have a gala here and invite the neighboring packs to bring all their unmated wolves to the gala so they can all have a chance at finding their mates." They all let out surprised gasps.
"Your majesty, with all due respect, how are we going to manage to put together a festival that large?" My mother steps up and smiles at the Alpha.
"I think between our design team and yours, and the Luna and myself, we can manage, right Luna?" Their Luna looks at my mom with wide eyes and nods. My mom claps her hands excitedly, and turns to my father. "Well? Let's go!"
We all follow the Alpha to the pack house and my mom immediately takes charge. "This will be done by tomorrow, and perfect timing too! It's a full moon!"
Werewolf legend says that all mates that bond under a full moon will be blessed by the Moon Goddess and the bloodline that follows suit will be strong. I follow one of their Omegas to the room that has been set up for me. I have to admit it was a pretty nice place, there is a King sized four poster bed in the center of the room with a large walk in closet and a bathroom with a double vanity and a large walk in shower. All of my stuff is already here so I decide to take a shower and change into more comfortable clothes.
My mother said that the gala will be tomorrow, I decide to take a shower and sleep off all the jet lag I have. The shower relaxes me enough that I am out like a light.

My mom and I are anxiously waiting for my father to come home, and what do I do when I am nervous? I eat. I am ransacking the pantry for the fourth time, emerging with a bag of pretzels and a Dr.Pepper. "Callie, please, we aren't going to have any food left."
I am about to protest but my ears picked up the sound of my dad's footsteps. The front door opens and I rush to him, "What? What is it? what's wrong?"
My dad holds up a hand and I take a deep breath, inhaling some more snacks. "I see she is nervous." He says, eyeing all the snack wrappers around the house. "Come sit in the living room." We follow my father in silence and my anxiety is eating me alive.
"So, we all knew the Royal family would be visiting soon, but it turns out they decided to host a gala here tomorrow night for all the unmated wolves to try and find their mates and since it is a full moon tomorrow night, all the mates that mark each that night will be blessed by the Moon Goddess herself."
I sit there in silence, processing what he just said. "I was all worked up about a damn gala? I thought there was actually something wrong!"
My parents both laugh and my mom claps her hands excitedly. "This means we can go shopping in the morning!"
