THE DANGER
Lydia's mind was racing after her conversation with Scott. She had a feeling of unease that she couldn't shake off. Scott’s words kept echoing in her mind: "You're in danger. She kept wondering how her life is about to change in just a twinkle of an eye.
What kind of danger? And why was she in danger? Questions swirled in her head as she tried to process everything.
Suddenly, she heard a strange noise outside her window. At first, she thought it was just the wind, but then she heard it again , a faint scratching sound. Her heart skipped a beat as she got up to check.
As she approached the window, she saw a shadowy figure staring at her lurking in the darkness.Lydia breath got caught in her throat as the figure seemed to be watching her.
Scott’s words came back to her mind. You're in danger.”Was this the danger he was talking about?
Her instincts told her to get away from the window, but her curiosity kept her rooted to the spot. Who was this person, and what did they want?
Just as she was about to call out for help, the figure vanished into the night. Lydia was left standing alone in her room, her heart pounding very fast.
What was going on? And who was behind the strange occurrences?
Lydia knew she had to talk to Scott again, and fast.
She picked up her phone from the night stand and dialed Scott’s number, trying to calm her racing heart,he picked at the second ring.
Lydia’s hands trembled as she dialed Scott’s number. She had to tell him about the strange occurrence outside her window.
"Hey,Scott answered on the second ring, his voice calm and reassuring. "What's going on?"
"There was someone outside my window," Lydia said, trying to keep her voice steady. "I saw a figure lurking in the shadows. It was watching me, Scott.”
Scott tone turned serious. "Stay inside and lock your doors and windows. I'm on my way. Don't go anywhere until I get there."
Lydia nodded, even though Scott couldn't see her. "Okay."
As she waited for Scott to arrive, Lydia’s anxiety grew. Who was this person, and what did they want? She tried to distract herself by pressing her phone, but her mind kept wandering back to the mysterious figure.
Twenty minutes later, Scott arrived at Lydia’s house. He knocked softly on the door, and Lydia let him in. Scott’s eyes scanned the surroundings, his expression alert.
"Let's talk inside," he said, Lydia took him to her room. Once they were seated, Scott asked, "Can you describe the figure you saw?"
Emily closed her eyes, trying to recall every detail. "It was tall, dressed in dark clothes, and it had a hoodie up. I couldn't see its face."
Scott nodded thoughtfully. "I'll find out who this person is. In the meantime, I want you to stay close to me or my pack. You're not safe alone right now."
She felt a shiver run down her spine. She was in danger, and Scott was the only one who knew what was going on.But she couldn’t understand the spark of trust she felt whenever he was around.
“How is that possible,I’m just getting to know you”she said.
“This is about your safety, you can’t be picky right now.” Scott said in a calm manner.
“ How do I trust you that you can protect me,the last time we talked you said you are not sure if you can protect me,”Lydia said.
“Yes,this is one of the reasons why I said that,I can’t be with you hours but if you are in my pack, if am not around other pack members will keep watch over you. That’s the only way I can protect you” Scott said.
“But what do I tell my parents, sister and my friends?”she asked. “You know you can’t reveal our world to anyone”Scott said in a serious tone.
“But they need to know my location even if it is one person,I can’t just leave without anyone knowing where I am,can I at least tell one person?”she asked .“Fine but the person needs to be tight lipped “ Scott said.
“Okay I will tell my sister”Lydia said.
“Let me be on my way back to my pack, make sure you close your windows and door, don’t open the door for any stranger” Scott said.
Lydia followed him to the living room door and watch him leave before locking the door and going back to her room, then her sister Abby appeared suddenly in front of hair, start spilling she said and don’t think of lying to me she said laughing, eager to hear what her sister has to say about her new man.“Let’s go to my room Abby “Lydia said.
Lydia was reluctant to tell Abby at first but she knew she needed someone to confide in other than Scott. She explained everything that happened from the moment Scott stepped into the grocery store and how the werewolf world truly exist.
Abby was shocked to the bone at this revelation and she wondered how this could truly exist but she knew her sister won’t lie about something this serious to her and she had to keep it as a secret for the sake of her sisters safety.
The next day, Lydia sat down with her parents in the living room. She took a deep breath and told them, "Mom, Dad, I have some news to share with you. I just got an offer for a job in another town, and I'm thinking of taking it." Her parents shared a surprised glance. "That's sudden," her mom said. "What kind of job is it?"
Lydia had prepared a story. "It's a marketing position with a great company. The pay is good, and it's a fantastic opportunity for my career."Her dad frowned. "But it's in another town. That means you’ll be moving away from us."
Lydia nodded. "I know it's a big decision, but I think this is a great chance for me to grow professionally. Lydia couldn’t tell her parents that she had already made arrangements to stay with Scott’s pack. She had to use the job offer as an excuse to get out of the house.
As they discussed the details, Lydia felt a pang of guilt for lying to her parents. But she knew it was necessary to keep her safe. Scott had told her that she was in danger, and she knew he was the only one that could protect her.
After they finished talking, Lydia’s parents seemed to accept her decision. They started making plans for her to move, and Lydia breathed a sigh of relief. She would be able to stay with Scott’s pack and stay safe. But little did she know, her decision would lead to more unexpected consequences...
