~ Six years Later ~ RUEBEN There's something they said about Karma being a b***h. And yes, that's what I'm currently facing. It's been six years since she left my pack and without denying it, I miss her so much I wish I could turn back time. Lina would've been the perfect fit for the Luna of this pack. She is smart, beautiful and was my fated mate. I regret everything and I wish I could see her again and tell her how much I love her. If only I was patient, if only I'd fought more for the sake of our love. I never would've lost the woman I cherished so much for so many years. Six years ago, I intended to claim Lina as my mate and crown her my Luna. Unfortunately, I found out that my father had arranged a marriage between me and the heiress of the DarkClaw pack. It was a big nightmare to me that I had to end up with a woman as despicable as Davina. But it was my fate and I embraced it. The elders pressured me to choose her, I was going to lose the pack my father had suffered to build after so many years. The same pack beta Frederick risked his own life to protect. I had enough time to tell Lina the truth but I never did. And I let her go like the fool that I was. Now I miss her so much, my heart couldn't even contain the feelings. I took the last sip of whiskey from my glass, throwing the tumbler across the room—watching it land against the wall. It broke, but it wasn't as shattered as my heart. I was so hurt… “I miss her” I cried out, right before my door opened and beta Alex walked inside. “Alpha.. what's wrong?” He asked me. I moved towards him at speed and I grabbed his collar. “Tell me you've found something on her? Please. Tell me you've found my mate?” I asked him but the looks on his face gave his response away and I knew that it was futile. He hasn't found her yet. “But I have a lead on where she could be.” He said.. I quickly wiped the tears forming in my eyes and I let go of his shirt allowing him to speak more comfortably. “I contacted an old maid from the mansion who used to be her very good friend. According to her, Lina left the pack to stay at her grandmother's..” he explained to me. “Well, that's great. Get the car ready so we go there.” I ordered him quickly but he didn't seem to respond. The looks on his face seemed like he had something else to say to me. “Tell me, what is it?” I urged him to speak. “According to the maiden, Lina left the pack pregnant with your pups.” He broke the news to me, leaving me more shattered. “W… what? Lina was pregnant?’’ I asked, feeling stunned by the sudden news. “I'm positive about it. I investigated and doctor Bates confirmed it to me” “What? She has my children? Please, we have to find her tonight!” I declared. “Lina, I'm coming for you and my pups. I promise to be there for you all from now on” I vowed as I left the office with Alex. LINA “Ruena, get over here right now!” I screamed out loudly at the five years old pup running around in the living room without any mercy for the interiors. This is what I get for raising an Alpha’s pup alone. Ruena was nothing like her brother, Ben. She was more active and powerful. Ben was also powerful but at least, he has more sympathy for me. He laid on the couch, engrossed in his assignments while I ran around the living room trying to pursue his sister. Ruena was getting more and more powerful by the day. She definitely inherited this strength from Rueben. Saying his name, recalling our past, it all made my heart ache but what had happened already happened and there was no going back or changing the past. On so many nights, I wished he was here to hold and cuddle me just like he'd promised me he would. I cried several times, realizing that I was left all alone to handle a pregnancy. It's been two years since I lost my grandmother. I miss her so much. She did a lot of things for me , she helped me during the time of my pregnancy, making sure that I ate well and was healthy till I birthed my pups. Those six months were a big hell for me as I managed a twin pregnancy with the hell of an experienced grandma. After making Ruena stop her runs, I decided to put some flowers on grandma's grave. It was right behind the house. I'd made this my routine for months in the last two years. I miss her so much, my life was so much better with her in it. It's been six years since I lost my wolf and my mate. Just when I thought that my whole life had ended, I was blessed with my twins to keep me company. They were my blessings, they helped me heal, even though not totally. They took care of me and are always here for me when I need consolation. These past few years haven't been easy for me but I managed to live through it. I worked as a financial manager in a tech company owned by one of the largest packs in the city. My salary was a blast and it has helped me change some parts of my life. I renovated my grandmother's home into a bigger mansion where my kids and I stayed. Even though I want to move out, I find myself not doing that because grandma would be all alone. My place of work was a bit far, but I hired a nanny to help me with the kids. It was the weekend today, I mostly spent time with them during the weekends so I had to do everything for them myself. I'd just finished preparing breakfast for us when I heard the doorbell ring. I looked around to make sure that everything was put in place before I wiped my wet hands on the apron I had on. I wasn't expecting any visitors and I didn't make any orders so a knock on my door and the doorbell ringing came as a shock to me. I hesitated, but when I opened the door, I saw a man dressed in a dark suit standing right in front of my patio. “Hi, how may I help you?” I asked the man who stared at me warmly.. “Luna Angelina” he said, bowing slightly as he greeted me. I stared at him, dumbfounded and wondered if he was talking to the right person. My name was indeed Angelina Frederick. I'd never use my full name, only a few people knew my name was Angelina in full. Whoever this man was, he must've known me so well. “Who are you?” I found myself asking, as confusion swept me completely. “I'm so sorry for being incompetent. It's been ten years, we've been searching for you. I took so long in doing the simplest task of bringing you to the pack. Please forgive me” he begged me. I was yet to understand what was going on. I'm no Luna, matter of fact, I'm just a lonely single mother living in the countryside with my kids. “I'm so sorry but I think you've got the wrong person” I said and was about to shut the door when he stopped me. “You've got your mother's eyes. Ava, she was so beautiful” he added, making me stop in my tracks. “Y.. you knew my mother?” I asked him. He immediately nodded and extended her picture for me to see. “You're the true heiress to the Silver claw pack.” he stated again, delving me into a more confused state. “Heiress? Silver claw pack? Please explain to me what you mean..” I paved the way for him to come inside.
