A few days later, Dom and Cal had to head out to the other land that used to be Evercrest pack. Owen stayed back to act in Dom's place and asked me to stay by his side, much to Cal's dismay. Even though Owen is as straight as they come, he flirts with me to piss off Cal. And of course, it works. Cal being his dominant self gets really possessive, not that I mind. But I know he's going to be worked up the entire three days he'll be gone and I'll feel every part of it, which will make me stressed out. Perks of the mate bond.
I walk into Cal's office to find Owen sitting at the desk. I give him a look.
"Um, pretty sure you're supposed to be the acting Alpha, not Beta. That was my assigned role. Unless you want to switch. I'll be the Alpha." I say to him jokingly.
