Today was the day that Marcel finally was allowed back on duty as a guard. He was happy and sad at the same time. Happy because he didn't have to clean up after the animals but dad because he won't be able to spend time with Princess anymore. And just with his luck, he was back to guarding the king's study. Marcel was hoping that he would be assigned to just guarding the front gates or even the garden. But of course, things haven't been going his way since he stepped foot in this castle. As he stood in front of the golden doors again his mind started to wander to the fun times he had with the princess. She has been real sunshine in his life the past month since he hadn't really been able to catch up with his friends being stuck on a farm. But he wasn't complaining. While he let his thoughts go further he heard the small speaker by the door click before a masculine voice spoke out of it. 'Assistance.' That meant that the King needed help from one of the guards. Turning his head to the side he saw that Joe was already looking at him expectingly. So with a sigh, he straightened himself out and prepared to go help the king. He turned the doorknobs and slowly opened the door, almost like he was opening the gate to a hungry lion's den. This was the first time Marcel had ever been inside the study before. As he stepped foot inside, he noticed that the room was very dark and cold. The only light coming from a lamp on the big mahogany desk, and the fish tank on the right that contained 2 piranhas in it. His vampire eyesight was good in the dark but being of a lower class it wasn't as good as a royal. It took a few seconds for his sight to adjust to the lighting in the study and slowly he was able to make out certain things. To the right, there was a big bookshelf with hundreds of books on it neatly arranged. On the left was a seating area with two sofas and a glass coffee table with a tray of a jug of blood and some glasses on top of it. With further inspection he noticed a small figure laying on one of the sofas with a big fluffy blanket over it. Princess must have come into the study before Marcel's shift at the door. He had just missed her and now she is asleep. 'Welcome back.' Marcel's eyes snapped back to the front of the room to meet Emanuel's green eyes. Only the royal family were blessed with color variations in their eyes. Normal vampires such as Marcels were all born with different shades of red for eyes, which is why the green shade in the king's orbs really captivated Marcel as it was not what he was used to. 'Your Highness.' he said with a bow as respect. 'How were my animals?' The king leaned back on his chair and folded his arms across his chest, giving his full attention to the boy stood in front of him. 'Pleasant, sire. I've learned my lesson' Marcel replied still avoiding eye contact. 'Good.' Emanuel then studied the guard. Marcel has a small frame. He stood around 6'7 just a little shorter than himself. Emanuel is about over 7 feet. For a low-class vampire, Marcel is considered quite tall as they normally range from 6 feet to only 6'3. Emanuel liked a tall man. Although it's hard to find someone that could tower over him. The last person who did was his father who had passed. His eyes continued to stroll up to the boy's face to reveal handsome features. Marcel had big glossy red eyes that gave him a babyface appearance. His stubble was just growing out and his blond hair was neatly combed. He was a relatively fine looking guy. 'How may I be of assistance?' Marcel asked which snapped the king out of his trance of checking the boy out. 'Right. Yes, bring this over to the front gates and informed the guards over there on the arrival of the duke. Let him in when he arrives and tell the chef to prepare an extra plate for dinner.' he ordered while passing Marcel a file of documents that authorizes the visitations of the Duke that evening. The castle is protected very well and anytime a guest is coming over the guards must ensure that they received a document from the King himself before they let anyone in. Surprise visits are strictly not allowed by anyone that is not a direct family to the royals. 'Yes, Your Majesty.' Marcel said before grabbing the document from the king's table. But before he could move back he felt the king grab his arm in a swift motion and tugged so his body leans forward a little which startled him. Their eyes finally met which mesmerized both of them, but mostly Marcel. 'Don't mess this up now, bonbon.' he whispered before letting Marcel go. The nickname made Marcel's heart skip a beat. It was clearly a reference to the chocolate bar that he gave Princess when they first met, and also the statement was referring to the incompetent image that he portrayed. Marcel quickly nodded at the king and walked out the door with the file in hand. That was pretty intense.
