Chapter 14: A Suspicion

Noah's POV     Morning comes way too soon; a reminder that Emma and I’s amazing date is now officially over. I stretch my legs the length of the bed as I roll over and wrap my arms around the most beautiful woman in existence. I breathe in her sweet, honey scent and pull her still naked body tight against mine.      “Well good morning to you too. Excited much?” Emma chuckles and wiggles her ass against me. I low growl escapes my lips as my excitement grows against her.      “I wasn’t excited till you made me that way.” I whisper as I lean into her neck and nibble on the lobe of her ear. I slowly make my way down her neck and across her shoulder before she flips herself around and pushes me flat to the bed, climbing on top of me, her legs wrapped tightly. From there, she moves quickly, taking all of me in and riding my length as if her life depends on it. Moan after moan pour from her lips before she crumbles on my chest, both of us breathing heavily as we slowly come down from the high of an early morning orgasm.     “As great as this is babe, we need to get moving. Check out is in an hour and I’m sure my dad will not want to wait to meet with me today.” Emma rolls off of me, falling onto the bed beside me and propping herself up on her side. I quickly jump from the bed, standing at the side, eyeing her.     “You meant to say us, right? Surely your dad doesn’t want just you, I mean it was my car that was broken into.” I fight to hide my irritation, but fail because in my gut, I know she meant exactly what she said.     “I don’t know what you’re getting all worked up about. All of this has nothing to do with you and you know my dad is a very private person.” Emma sits up, wrapping a sheet around her body, and scoots to the edge of the bed, throwing her legs over the side in front of me.     “Being a private person has nothing to do with it, Emma. It is MY car that got broken into, MY belongings that could have been stolen, MY windows that got busted, so please explain to me how this has nothing to do with me?!” I can no longer hide my irritation and I can feel my anger rising with each passing moment. I’m not typically an angry guy, but something about this situation isn’t sitting right with me and I feel like Emma is hiding something.     “I’m not going to argue with you Noah and I’m especially not going to sit here and just let you yell at me.” She stands from the bed and begins walking towards the bathroom. “I’m going to shower and get ready for the day. Maybe that will give you a chance to calm down and we can try to talk again after.” walking in the bathroom, she half slams the door behind her and I can hear her angrily go about getting everything for her shower set up. I know I upset her and I hate that. It’s not like us to argue and usually we can talk through anything without ever raising our voices or walking away. I plop back down on the bed, dropping my head in my hands and try to take a few calming breaths, but it’s not helping. I hear the shower start finally and decide that it is probably best that I just leave. I quickly grab my clothes and get dressed, I’ll worry about showering at home, and throw my things in my overnight bag. I stop at the little desk in our room and right a note to Emma on the hotel stationery.     “I’m sorry my love. I need to get some fresh air and clear my head, so I’ve called for a taxi and I’m headed back to the apartment. I know I have done wrong in this situation, but please see things from my perspective. I hope you and your dad get things figured out and I will see you later at home. Be safe and know that I love you. We’ll talk soon. Love, Noah”     Tearing the paper from the pad, I walk back over to the bed and lay my note on Emma’s bag where I know she will see it right away and then I turn and leave the room. When I make it down to the front desk, I let them know that Emma is still in the room, but she will be down shortly for checkout. I make sure our bill is paid in full before heading out to catch a taxi home.     Pulling into the apartment parking lot, I notice that Liam’s car is gone and silently curse him for having a life when I needed my buddy to talk to. I pay the taxi driver and grab my bag on my way out of the car and head up to my place. I unlock the door and walk in, slamming the door behind me and head to the living room, throwing my bag on the couch. I turn for the kitchen about the same time I hear footsteps behind me. I whip around ready to fight whoever may be behind me and I am shocked to see Amber standing there.     “Whoa there body! It’s just me. Is everything okay? Where is Emma?” Amber slowly walks towards me, with her hands out in front of her jokingly showing me she is not a threat.     “What the hell are you doing home and where is Liam?” I pop off at her and turn back towards the kitchen, going straight to the fridge to find food.     “It’s great to see you too asshole! And Liam got called into work like an hour ago, but don’t worry, he just called and said he’ll be home shortly. Now, do you want to tell me what the hell is going on with you?”     “Maybe you should call your best friend and ask her.” I shut the fridge, not having found anything to eat and walk from the kitchen. “I need a shower.” I go straight to my room and take the hottest shower humanly possible. Getting out, I dry off and get dressed before going back out to the living room. As I open my bedroom door, I can hear Amber’s voice in the kitchen and it sounds like she is on the phone, so I stay where I am and listen.     “He didn’t say anything, it just seems like he could kill someone. It’s really odd for him. Okay, well I just wanted to make sure you are alright. Call me if you need anything and we’ll see you for dinner. Love ya doll.” I hear Amber lay the phone down on the counter, so I give it a few more minutes before I walk out so she won’t know I was listening. After a minute or two, I walk from my room and go sit down on a barstool in front of Amber.     “Hey.. I’m sorry for earlier. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but no matter what, you didn’t deserve that.”     “It’s fine. Men are just as emotional as women, if not more, so I kinda expect outbursts every now and then.” Amber chuckles slightly at her little joke. “Anyways, do you want to talk about it? I talked to Emma already and she gave me an overview.”     “I just don’t get it, Amber. My car was broken into last night, but according to Emma, that has nothing to do with me. It makes no sense! She said something about, ‘They think it is her mom’, but I think that was just an excuse to keep me out of things. Lately I feel like she is constantly lying to all of us and I just don’t understand why. What I do know is that the more crazy bullshit that happens to her, the more her lies are growing and I’m positive of that.”     “It’s funny you say that Noah, because I’ve been thinking the same thing. For years now she has always led this second life that no one knows about. I don’t mean anything bad by that, I know it all has to do with her dad’s business. Something seems fishy and always has, but she never gives me any details of anything when I try to ask. I don’t like thinking this way about her, so I always just push it to the back of my mind, but like you said, a lot of strange things keep happening and I’m curious to know why.”     "I'm going to let you in on a little secret and I will come for your throat in your sleep if you say anything to anyone and that includes Liam." I take a deep breath before continuing. "I plan to ask Emma to marry me."     "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! Are you serious right now?! How am I supposed to keep this a secret?!" Amber squeals,  bouncing where she stands.     "You have to keep it a secret or else, Amber. I'm not asking her until I know everything there is to possibly know about her and right about now I feel like everything is a lie. So until I get to the bottom of this, I won't even be looking at rings, which means your mouth stays shut." I glare at Amber, hopefully making myself clear. "I do need your help though figuring all this out. She may be the love of my life, but you and her have a connection I could never have with her and I need you to use that to help us both figure out her secret."
