“Wait. What?” I cut her off sharply, my voice louder than I intended, the sudden idea of her wanting another child hitting me like a bucket of cold water.
“I want us to have another baby,” she said.
I didn’t let her finish before I cut her off, my temper flaring. Hearing those words a second time only made me angrier.
“Want a baby? Are you even listening to yourself?” I snapped. “You’re bored and lonely, so your solution is to have a baby? Does that sound normal to you? If you’re f*****g bored and lonely, you knit. You hang out with your friends. You go shopping. You don’t just decide to bring another life into this house like it’s some kind of hobby. People who are bored go out and have fun, Elena, they don’t demand a baby.”
“What’s so wrong with us having another baby?”
