Amelia’s POV
It was almost midnight, and the entire palace was cloaked in silence.
After the terrible encounter with Kai, and after shedding so many bitter tears, I felt completely drained, body and soul.
I just wanted to rest. To be left alone for once. To find a little peace.
I lay down on my bed, turned off the lamp, and pulled the blanket up to my chin, closing my eyes.
The darkness wrapped around me like a cocoon, and for a moment, I thought maybe… maybe sleep would finally come.
But then—
I felt it.
That eerie prickle on my skin.
That undeniable sense that I wasn’t alone.
I opened my eyes—and immediately froze.
Two glowing red eyes stared at me from the dark.
My heart slammed against my ribs as my trembling hand shot out to switch the lamp back on.
Light flooded the room
