Chapter 1

2 months later... Summer hits my window at 6:30 in the morning. Announcing that there is a beautiful day out there to enjoy. But for me it is just another day rotting and defrosting like a meat. Literally. I get up and go to the mirror on my dresser. The long hair falling on my caramel-colored shoulder leaves me discouraged. The wig was chosen by my mother, claiming that the caramel would brighten my green eyes. She was right. It lit up my eyes. And my extremely white skin makes me look like a person who lives in Alaska. I would feel beautiful even, if something inside and I hadn't been slowly destroying myself. I don't like anything, I throw up everything I eat, and I don't have that much strength to run. I put a wig on my wig so I don't get wet and go to the bathroom to take a shower. There I do my hygiene and get out of the towel, feeling cold. I put on jeans, a blouse and a sweatshirt. I add a sneaker to the look and booom. Julia de semlre is there. Ready for another day full of worsening and radiation therapy. I don't make eyebrows, much less put on false eyelashes. I haven't had anything to hide for a long time. I pick up the backpack and go to the kitchen where I find Mom, Dad and my brothers. Julio and Juliano. - Good morning - I said, sitting in my usual place. - Good morning dear.- My mom put a mug of coffee in front of me. I smiled in thanks. “Excited for your senior year?” Asks my father. - Not even a little. - I replied eating a toast. - And you ready for another year? - I'm excited! Anyway high school - Said Júlio. "It's not a big deal," Juliano said, laughing. - Spoiler. - I laughed with Juliano with Júlio's disagreeable face. "Come on, come on, you two are going to be late," said my mother, looking at where to watch and picking up her bag. - Ok.- This morning I had a good appetite. I took another toast and then my backpack. - Bye dad. And bring Monica. - I said looking at Juliano with Julio laughing behind him. “Julia!” Scolded Juliano. - It is true. I already asked Maria to make the meatloaf. - She's just a friend. Mom! - Juliano made a look of help and we all stopped to look at Mom. - Bring Monica! - we all laughed and went on our way. ###### Mom parked the car in front of the school and Julius soon got out just saying goodbye. He was really excited about coming to school. I took a deep breath and got out of the car. - Have a nice day dear. - Thanks Mom. See you later . Love you. - I love you more. - She gave me a kiss and I smiled, just like that, turning her back on him. I walked towards the gate and passed them. I saw the same people from last year. And some new ones, coming from elementary school and others coming this year. I passed directly between the people and walked to the end and turned left that faced the main patio, in which there were many more people. I went to the board where it contained the students' names and the number of classrooms where they were going to have their classes. I wrote down all the classes I had throughout the year and went to my first class: 305: literature class. Great way to start the year. ###### I massage my temples, to try to relieve my headache that started early this day. What a bag. The bell rings and soon the students pack their things to go to the next class. I pack my things and leave the room holding my agenda where I wrote down the times. I take the opportunity and pick up my pills from the side of the backpack. I open the jar, try to get a pill but someone bumps me, making them all spread out on the floor. - Damn it. - It was bad.- I looked at the cause of it and saw Thomas - All right. - I started picking up those who were in sight putting it in the pot. As soon as I finished I got up and Thomas was still there. - Some of his pills. -he held out his hand in my direction and I took it. - Thank you - I dodged him and went to my office. This was the first time that I had any contact with Thomas. He arrived here last year, in the middle of the year, and with a square face, pose as a heartthrob and physicist as captain of the team, he soon fell in favor of the staff. Despite having a scholarship here at school, he became popular very quickly. And like everyone else, what I wanted was distance.
