What The Hell Is A Mate?!

Jasper's Pov:

I was at the basketball court watching my best friend Kyle the beta's son having a game with some of the warriors from my Pack.

My name is Jasper Freinkinstein the son of the Alpha of Crescent Moon pack and the future Alpha, for now my dad refuses to pass down the Alpha title to me as he says I am not a leader example. It pisses me off everytime he says that just because i broke a few bones or took off the enemies head, an Alpha should rule with fear and not show weakness but I don't know why my mom and dad don't understand that.

Being feared by all means they give you the respect you deserve, not that I care about that but I want them to fear me like death. Just watching them play like the humans and the rest of the other weak supernatural beings angers me and if it was up to me I'd have them train for a months without food nor water.

I was standing and watching them play in anger when my wolf Lucien started to urge me to walk out, his antsy behavior was new to me as I know the feared demon wolf as never acted this so I decided to do what he wanted and walk out of the court.

I was walking in the direction he wanted to go when a very strong smell of strawberry and mint hit my nostrils as it invaded my whole body and I started to walk very fast towards it, I stop behind a tree as I stare at the girl who emitted such alluring smell. She was very beautiful with her wavy hair bouncing around her waist as she walk, everything about her screamed of beautiful with her alluring light blue eye color adding more beauty to her face.

From just a glance at her my heart beat race and Lucien and I wanted to go mark and claim her on spot, she was our mate our other half and we were hers but I just didn't know how to approach her and I silently watch her walk into the school grounds. Whatever i was feeling I had never felt before and it made me seem weak but for the first time that didn't bother me and I couldn't care less, the only thing I could think of was just approaching and talking to her I wanted to know her name and I wanted her to know mine so I decided to approach her from the her front and not behind.

I took another path which would lead me to her from the front and I quickly started to jog, when I was a about a couple of steps in front of her I halt in my tracks inhaling her smell which was getting stronger as she got closer to me and before I knew it she bumped into my chest as she wasn't watching where she was going. I started to sniff in more of her scent and to determine which supernatural being she was but she didn't give off the smell of any of the species I know and she didn't give of the smell of the humans too, I wonder if she was a witch and hiding her smell but I'd still be able to sniff it off of her since my mom is a witch so I gave up and decided I'll ask her later.

I heard her yelp out silently in pain and if didn't have sharp hearing I wouldn't have heard her, she slowly raise up her heard and stare into my eyes which knock out my breath away and I smile brightly at her before I quickly apologize to her.

She quickly took out a book and pen from her backpack and scribble on it before she showed it to me to read which made me frown in anger, I heard her vioce when she yelp yet she pretended not to be able to speak and it enraged me.

" I know you can talk so why are you writing that to me "

I laugh and said to her in anger which made her started to Walk away from me and I quickly block her path, I introduce myself to her and started to talk to her but she ignored me and stood still staring at me in annoyance which made her look more adorable, she got angry and stared deep into my eyes with her mesmerizing eye color.

" Get away from me "

I felt an urge to squirm to her words which enraged me and Lucien growl in menace through our mind link.

" Mate tried to command us just now!!! "

Lucien and I were enraged at her audacity but we couldn't bring ourselves to harm her, she didn't emit the smell of the sirens but she used an ability similar to theirs just her command was stronger than theirs. A siren's voice command was like a mosquito bite to us that we can't feel but i felt a bit of pain when I refuse to obey her command and she stared at me at me in shock and terrified.

" I said get away from me!! "

She yelled at me which almost sounded like a wail and I felt a very sharp pain in my head which made Lucien also whimper in pain and he got dangerously angry as he tried to take over. I quickly calm him down and I stare at her in anger as I smirk and sigh,

" If you weren't my mate I'd have your head and leave your body for the vultures to feast on you! "

she looked at me in horror as shivers run down her spine before she stared at me in confuse.

" What the hell is a mate?! "

She asked me confused and I stared at her speechless and dumbfounded, I didn't know whether she was trying to mess around with me or she was serious but the look on her face shows how clueless she was about mate. She quickly regain her composure and she sigh,

" Look it's not that I don't know the meaning of mate but I just don't know why you would call me your mate because it's used mostly for animals and you and I ain't that, I don't know which psychiatric hospital you escaped from but I'm sorry to inform you that I don't have time for this "

She said to me in a very silent tone as if she was whispering to me and I laugh very hard as I held my stomach, I didn't know whether she was pretending or what but she looked damn adorable which made it seem hard to get angry.

" Says the girl who just use vioce command on me. "

I said to her in serious tone and I felt her blood run cold as she took a step back away from me and look at me in fear, she looked very shocked which I didn't get why what I said would shock her.

" I'm sorry I don't know what you mean by that, I have to get to the principal's office now "

she said and started to take quick steps away from me and I quickly took hold of her hand and stop her in her tracks, she turn back and stare at me in anger and her light blue eye color turn deep before it went back to light color again which made me smirk.

" At least tell me your name before you go, or I'll keep you here. "

I said to her teasingly which made her start to take quick breaths trying to calm herself down as she look conflicted in thoughts.

" F ... Freya, Freya Marshall "

She stuttered as she she said and I smile before stretching my hand over to her face and stuck a stranded her behind her ears which made her startled at my sudden action.

" Okay Freya, I'm Jasper. we'll be seeing each other a lot from now on. "

I quickly let go of her hand and she started to walk hurriedly away from me, she stop and glance back at me when she was farther away from me and I wave at her before she turn back and disappear from my sight.

" Freya, what a lovely name for my lovely mate. "

I smile and happily muttered to myself before I walk to class, i couldn't concentrate on anything the teacher was saying the whole time as my thoughts drift to my mate.

The teacher was super angry but he knew not to get the demon wolf pissed if he wanted to keep his witchy head on, the school was filled with supernatural beings and humans and we all know of ourselves. I started to think of what my mate could be but I couldn't determine her species.

" I don't think she knows what she is, she couldn't even tell we were also not humans. Her abilities are hard to determine since it's not just like any other voice command she used on us. "

Lucien said to me in our mind link and I agreed with him, our mate also didn't know what she was and it seemed like she didn't know of supernatural beings.

" We could ask mom for help when we get home, since she's an ancient witch she'd know more about other supernatural species. "

" That's a good idea, I want to know know about our mate. She's fierce and I like that, I can't wait to mark her and make her ours. "

Lucien's animal instinct was threatening to surface which made me quickly cut off the mind link to keep him at bay, Freya's scent started to invade my nostrils again and I quickly knew she was coming to my class which made me very excited deep within and I kick the guy in the seat in front from behind. All the supernatural beings in the school knew not to get on the bad side of the demon wolf so a kick from me terrified him and all those who saw me do that even the teacher quickly divert his gaze pretending not to see that, the guy turn to me terrified and looking pale and I glare coldly at him,

" Change your seat and leave that empty. "

I said to him with a poker face and he quickly stood up and took the empty seat left for Freya and I smile happily, our principal who's an Alpha wolf walk in with Freya following behind and he introduced her as a mute before leaving her to the teacher and went on his way.

The teacher gave Freya a chalk and she wrote her name and her introduction on the board which left me in shock as the other students clap for her and welcome her, the teacher started to search for an empty desk for her and I glared at him dangerously making him understand what I meant with my glare and he quickly send Freya my way as she took the seat in front of me. I slowly lean in from her back as I positioned my lips to her ears,

" We meet again Freya, I guess we're destined for each other. "

I whisper into her ear and she blush from the tip of her ear but she chose to ignore me and the whole class stare at the bright smile on my face in shock, Kyle who was sitting in the seat beside me stare stunned and dumbfounded before he smirk realizing what all that was about.

" Hmmm you found your mate, I never thought you'd ever be interested in your mate. "

he mind link me as he smirk teasingly at me and I glare at him in anger.

" Shut up and f*ck off "

I sneer at him in the mind and he laugh before cutting the link. The bell rang for lunch and the students started to get up from their seats as some quickly exit the class, those who were still in their seats started to check Freya out with their lusty and perverted eyes which me me growl and glare at each one of them. Those who attempted to approach her stop in their tracks and turn back to their seats, I quickly stood up from my seat and walk to her before I squat at her side.

" Won't you go for lunch? "

I ask her and she looked at me embarrassed as her stomach growl and she quickly place her hands on her stomach, She was about to write down her words when I quickly stop her,

" I don't know why you're playing mute and i don't really want to pry in that but don't act mute with me. "

I said to her and she looked at me conflicted.

" I have my own reasons why I can't talk, and please stop acting as if you know me. we're not friends stop acting so close. "

I laugh at her whisper adorably before I sigh.

" You don't know where the canteen is right, c'mon I'll show you around. Or are you planning on commanding someone to do that? "

She hurriedly stood up from her seat scared at what I said to her.

" Lead the way, and I have no reason to do that. "

She whispered to me silently and I smile in satisfaction before I led her to the canteen, everyone stopped eating and started to watch our every move as we walk in the canteen and I ignore their heated gazes and led Freya to where the Kyle sat with the other members from my Pack. I urged Freya to take a seat and she felt hesitant at first but after I assured her it was okay before she willing took a seat and I sat beside her, I ordered someone to get her food and she ate in silence when it was brought to her.

" Hi there I'm Kyle this i***t's brother from another mother, it nice to meet you. What is the name of our Luna? "

Kyle smile warmly as he introduced himself to Freya and she stared at him dumbfounded, she took out her book and started to scribble which pissed me off but I chose to ignore since I told her I wouldn't pry.

" Freya Marshall, nice to meet you too Kyle. And what's a Luna? "

She showed her writings to Kyle and he stared between me and Freya in shock as he massage his temple.

" How come she doesn't know what a Luna is? She isn't human I can smell that much but she doesn't give off the scent of the others too. "

Kyle mind link me in a hurry with a very confused and clueless face.

" I don't know the details too but it seems she doesn't know about supernatural beings, for now let's not talk about these things in front of her before I find out what she is! "

I mind link back to him and we both agreed on that and quickly ate our lunches before going back to the class for the rest of the lessons, after school was over I tried to offer Freya a ride but she refused me and went home leaving me with a heartache at school. I drove back home with Kyle and park the car in front of the pack house before I got down and walk into the house in search of my mom, I walk into the kitchen to find her preparing dinner with the omegas and I quickly walk to her and hug her from behind.

" Mom I need to talk to you and it's urgent. "

I said to my mom Meredith the Luna of Crescent Moon pack and she stop everything she was doing and walk me to her room, she sat at the edge of her bed and she instructed me to take a seat beside her and I did.

" It's unusual to see you this worked up sweety, what did you want to talk about. "

she ask me in a motherly and worried tone and I laid my head on her laps.

" Mom I found my mate. "

she quickly raised my head up to look at her as soon as I said that and she had a beautiful smile on her face.

" Where is she? Why didn't you bring her home? "

She started to rain down a lot of questions on me and I sigh.

" That's the thing mom, she doesn't know what a mate is. She gives of the smell of supernatural beings but not the exact species, she uses voice command but she's not a siren and she doesn't seem like she knows what she is or about us supernatural. Mom I want you to see whether you can find out what she is. "

" That's strange that you of all people can't sniff off her kind, truly I have to take a look at this matter but I need to see her first before I can determine that. "

" Okay mom, I haven't won her over yet I'll bring her when I do. "

My mom laughed at my behavior as it surprised her to see me that way and it surprised me too but I just couldn't care less, Freya was my mate and I fell for her at first sight and I'm willing to protect her with my life and that's all that mattered to me now.
