That Athena ran away was not surprising to me, but she could have waited, or at least pretended. Daren looked devastated, as if all his hopes had been shattered.
During the commotion, I walked back to my room and tossed myself on the bed for a nap, and as I closed my eyes to sleep, her thoughts filled my mind. There was only one place Athena could have gone, and that was her room in the Gunnolf household.
