Chapter Fifteen I skid to a halt as I enter the room where Stacey and Carlton are both standing, their eyes focused on something on the floor. I ignore them for a moment, scanning the shadows for signs of the people I'm hoping are lurking there. Sure enough, there's the telltale glint of moonlight on metal, and several darker shadows waiting. They're here. This is going to be over, and it couldn't be soon enough. I'm done with the games and the lies. I just want a chance to live my life. I've never had that before, and I find I enjoy it. But now isn't the time for moments like that. I take stock of the room, and realise the only exit not covered is the one I just came through. I step back a few paces so I'm right in front of it.
