Chapter Six
Nerves flutter in my stomach as I approach class. I'm not sure I can face Emma now I know she won't be facing any consequences. But I know I have to. Ever since the guild fell, I've wanted to make a better life for myself, and this is my way of doing it.
She is not going to mess this up for me. Emma has already taken my human life from me, even if I wasn't that attached to it, it wasn't her decision to make. She won't get anything else from me.
I drop into my seat, ignoring the other students as they chatter among themselves and wait for the lesson to begin.
Every time the door creaks I find myself glancing up at it, waiting for Emma to step through the door. Is she going to try and talk to me again? Or will she ignore me this time? It's hard to tell.
