Chapter 27
“Lord Leighton to see you, sir.”
Matthias smirked down at the note he was currently writing to the man in question. “Of course he is. Send him in, Thrush.”
Moments later, the door opened to admit Nick, then closed again behind him. Suddenly, it all came back to Matthias that Nick had challenged someone to a duel the night before. It didn’t matter that that someone had turned out to be a coward or that everyone was now perfectly safe, Nick could have gotten himself killed.
Nick seemed to sense Matthias’ thoughts, or at least his intentions, because he was ready when Matthias wrapped an arm around his waist and returned the favor by wrapping both arms around Matthias’ neck.
Matthias hoped the purpose of Nick’s visit wasn’t anything more important than the hard, demanding kiss
