Riley POV I feel the sun’s first rays flash across my face. Damn it! This position is never good for someone like me who loves to sleep late. Even though the light burns against my skin, I close my eyes a little longer, savoring the rare moments of peace. I don’t remember the last time I had slept so well so uninterrupted. It feels like a small miracle, a brief escape from the chaos that seems to define my life. “Damn it! I’m supposed to be at the pack hospital!” I mutter to myself, springing out of bed with a sudden jolt, heart racing. In the Midnight Pack, if I were late even once, someone would have dragged me out in frustration or worse. But the moment I open my eyes, I realize my surroundings are completely different. Gone is the tiny, shabby basement room I once called home.
