Jas was surprised by what Li had done; her cellphone was already at his ear.
"You know what's going to happen, Jasmine," Li heard the voice say before the line went dead.
"Who is he?" Li asked with clenched teeth as he handed the cellphone back to Jas.
Jas was momentarily speechless, seeing the anger on Li's face. "It's no one, just someone messing around," she stammered in response.
"You're not telling the truth, Jas," Li said. The sweetness was gone from his voice, "We're not going home unless you tell me the truth. I think we need to talk." He turned the steering wheel and changed the car's direction.
Li remained silent and continued driving without saying a word. Jas didn't know how to start their conversation again. She chose to stay quiet.
